Takeover ??

Recommended Posts

If a takeover goes through and I’m sure we’d all hope one does if there’s a remote possibility of it happening

I’m I right in think we will still be in the same mess with transfers as in we’re still overspending so embargo’s will still be a thing

in short if the club isn’t run in a profitable way you just can’t keep throwing money at players or transfers it doesn’t matter how much wealth you have it goes on the club

and another thing as this 17 page and rising thread come about from a random tweet from a nobody or I’m I missing something

There’s not one journalist that’s even entertaining this is there or have I missed something

as much as it’s nice to think we might get a better suited chairman who can deliver better success the idea of it might as well been started by a dinner lady from Newcastle

Football changed forever with the introduction of the premier league with all its money ? I’m 52 in March saw us have success early 80’s when heysel disaster stopped us getting into Europe, then the early 90’s when we really rubbed shoulders with the big boys and beat them regularly over 3/4 seasons…then we couldn’t sustain where we had got to and fell away over the next 5/6 seasons to never appear in the top flight again, my lads have seen maybe 2/3 seasons of success and that’s it. The big boys are moving ever further away from the other clubs in the premier yr by yr even manure are falling away atm?  How I’d long for it to go back 30 yrs not just for us but as a whole when you had a chance in the cups and mostly could keep hold of your best players, unfortunately those days are gone forever barring it all going pop and we have a reset . Still rather keep who we are and wot we are than loose the name stripes and colours .

I'm with you mate aswell... Same age nearly aswell... Same experiences.. Sadly it will never be the same..

Things were looking bright. Consolidate for a season, maybe playoffs, then push on next year with a good young base to build on.

Then he bottled it and now we play every over 30 and have one of the highest average matchday ages in the league, and we're still not challenging. Only next year they'll all be one year older and we'll have to start again.

Yes, I've just read that the average age of our squad is the second highest in L1.  However the highest is Wycombe and they're top, suggesting age is not necessarily a problem.

When it comes to Wednesday, journalists are not bothered and all the local ones specialise in is pouring cold water on any potential positive stories with regards to us.

I've been going for 60 years, I haven't seen many more decent years than you. I love the club, it's name and it's colours, it's what keeps me going to Hillsborough.

Certainly some success would be great but I personally wouldn't give up our identity in exchange for it.

I think you are wrong and here's Why.

We have a history that goes back more than 200 years as a sporting club that has involved Athletics, Cricket and Football. Post 1867 we have had players who have participated in all forms of our activities. It's now more than 40 years since our last major trophy. However, almost 200 years ago an ex player was involved in the first ever International Cricket match between the US and Canada.

All that, and the rich History between now and then typifies exactly who we are. So when next we celebrate winning a major trophy would we be singing at the final whistle "We love you PETRONAS we do Oh PETRONAS we love you" or infix 'REDBULL' or what....

Of course not, ringing around the stadium would be  "We love you WEDNESDAY we do Oh WEDNESDAY we love you"

We are Wednesday and that is who we are; It is what we educate our kids with as the stories are passed on. Wednesday is in our genes !

It's not if you get promoted.

If you don't it's a waste of a year and a load of money.

We could go into next season, still in league 1 with a load of old folk needing new knees and a load of early 20s players who still need experience.

Or we could go into it with a young backbone of FDB, Adeniran, Brown, Brennan, etc. With a group of players at their peak, 25-28, Byers, Sow, Wing, Iorfa, Paterson etc. And a couple of old folk to steady the ship. Luongo, Hutch, Dunkley, Bannan.

A side that has experience and a base for the next 5-6 years.

Yeah life is too short for me,  I want to see the football team I support be successful before I go.  Even if that means being called RB Wednesday, having a fancy new stadium and having blue and white stripes with RED sponsorship. It’s still Wednesday that I’ll be supporting, or the owls, or that blue and white team in Sheffield or whatever we still are.

Man city are not the same club that some of their supporters starting supporting for 28 years, bet they don’t care

Let’s just confirm the Red Bull story is a complete made up Owlstalk myth …

Well it does make sense, because they'd want a piece of ELEV8 Energy Drinks to enhance their portfolio
