TP is out on his own in the footballing world, a one off. His management is all about results today. That is , of course, what we need to stay up . But TPs history is always the same playbook. 1. Take over , reshape team to be harder to beat, work on set plays and rely on experienced players. 2. See improvement. 3. Eventual stagnation of that improvement. 4. Fans get on his back to change style 5. Doesn’t 6. Eventually club takes gamble with manager who plays better football 7. Chaos and relegation ( stoke and wba) or near relegation (Boro ) follows as team can’t play that way. 8. Total rebuild needed as a result. there is no foundation coming. do I care ? Not really . Blimey, Garry Monk at his looked like a man who'd just had a bad diagnosis from his GP. Of course, in a way he had. The image of Monks wild eyed face and bulging eyes as the weary looking chairman declared to the assembled press that promotion was on the cards will stick with me till my dying day. Pulis , given time, will build. He'll build solid foundations , which will make a nice change since much of what we have built in recent years has been built on sand a quick fix of big name players, on big money, and no genuine strategy or process in place. Something which we could all see would, and did, came crumbling down in expensive ruins. Pulis will give us solid foundations to build on. Given longer he might build something even more solid. But we will have to have some patience. The budget has been blown and we're probably going to see more well sourced grafters on site in coming months and years than artists coming in to paint fancy murals on the ceiling. If that what it takes, to do it right this time. Then that is what it takes. And we must get behind the players and manager in that period. He's not been a popular appointment, largely because of preconceived ideas we have of him. Before we leap on him looking for problem, let us see what he can do with us and not knee jerk at the first set back. Sadly unlike some of the fly-by-nights we've had this Pulis is going to need wins from the off to buy patience with a frustrated, and not a little snobbish, fan base. A win tomorrow at a ground where we have got hardly anything in 22 visits would be a terrific start. Great houses are start with good footings. Not miracles. Lets give him a chance. A proper chance. PRESTON NORTH END - v - SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY The hosts currently sit in 14th place in the table having lost away to Rotherham United 2-1 last time out, while Wednesday are in 23rd after our 0-0 draw with Millwall.
