Onomah and Hector on deadline day. Slow start to the season because we failed to recruit and sell throughout pre season. If the same was to happen again it will be another mid table finish, or lower regardless of who is in charge.

Always look on the bright side of life .... Who really knows who or what weve signed or got in the pipeline. No one in this thread thats for sure. Me included.

First preseason game in 2 weeks, first league game in just over 4. With 10 players leaving we need to get a move on if we want to take advantage of a decent run of opening fixtures.

Hopefully all will become clear this weekend!?

Surely for insurance and contract reasons new players won’t actually sign or start training/playing until after 1/7.

It'll be all weigh ins, fines, holiday chat, new training kit hand-outs, and light running.

Jennings might be down there to make sure there's no WAWAW on any merch.

Agree on the training bit. Not sure whether they'd be insuranced if not contracted. Wouldn't see an issue with the other club stopping them from training though and they could always turn up and just watch and get to know the squad a bit.

But contractually it goes like this. English clubs can sign players playing outside england when 6 months remain on their deal. That is usually 1 Jan.

For players in England, it is within the last 30 days so 1 June. However, if the club doesn't offer them a deal within a week of their season finishing (all clubs have to notify players their intentions a week after the final game) then the club waive that right to exclusivity and the player is free to negotiate and sign.

Basically, we could have signed Borner any day from 1 Jan 19, Harris and Bidwell from around the 20th May, and Odubajo from 1 June.

Being highly thought of at Crystal Palace and being highly thought of at Spurs are different things.

Onomah just needs a decent run in a team. Talented player, permanent move will do him good.

John Bostock was highly rated at Palace and Spurs too.

Remember him?

Interesting that Bristol City are signing Tomas Kalas permanently fron Chelsea. Shows that even without a manager at Chelsea, deals are still being done. He's also a similar player to Hector in terms of being at Chelsea for a long time and having many loan spells away. Now he's finally moved permanently.

Really could do with a few new players to go on the trip to Portugal. Give as many as possible a full pre season. We don’t want players not ready to start the season because they aren’t up to speed.

The 4 we've signed will go.

A couple of the u23s may go too although they have games scheduled in England during that time

Only if the club file it’s accounts .

players won’t be registered until they do.

A quote from the Bristol Post

"We’re expecting Tomas Kalas to be a club record deal when it’s officially announced. We also understand that being an international defender he doesn’t come too cheap!"

Their record is £5.3m

If we can sacrifice a few more players and recoup some funds. I'd love it if we brought in Hector, Morsy and Maddison or similar. Plus confirming the free agents and bringing in some quality loanees. That sort of business along with having Bruce in charge and Westwood in goal, would give us a reasonable chance of pushing for the top 6. Depending upon the accounts and getting a few players out, we could have a decent go at it without breaking the bank.

That sort of business should give us a shot at automatic never mind top 6. We weren't far off that sort of form after the new year. Give us a full season with the additions you mention and we won't be far away at all. Just need the rub of the green but that's the same for all teams.

To be fair they've already sold a defender for £12M this summer so they've got plenty of spare cash to make a good purchase like Kalas. Might set the sort of price Chelsea would want for Hector though.
