Popular Post Beholder
It's a key position. We haven't got it sorted. Neither Dawson or Wildsmith are good enough. Westwood is a class above. But our absolute travesty of a manager decided he couldn't be in the same dressing room. Either we need a keeper or we need a new manager who will bring Westwood back. Preferably the latter. Edited July 23, 2020 by Beholder 14 1
swfc1983
Yep Westwood out, experienced number 1 in and Dawson or Wildsmith out on loan please. 3
mogbad
Agree Dawson & Westwood are currently to error prone, one of them needs to go out on loan. Personally i don't think Westwood has been a class above for some time. A new keeper is a must this transfer window.
Donny El
Westwood is good but past it. Wildsmith is one for the future but will be a good number 2 to whoever we get in. Edited July 23, 2020 by Donny El
Popular Post Lunny1968
We need to take our rose coloured glasses off. Prior to being dropped Westwoods form was abysmal. Dawson and Wildsmith are not good enough. A new keeper is required. 26
S36 OWL
A new, experienced keeper must be a priority.

northeastowl
Completely agree. Neither Wildsmith or Dawson are good enough to be a starter in the championship. If we didn’t need to buy 4 strikers then it would have been a priority for me.
FreshOwl
Such an important position we need to get right Probably a large reason we’ve conceded so many per game since Christmas is the lack of any real organisation or leadership from either Wildsmith or Dawson. @owlstalk
Westwood was dropping clanger after clanger last time he was allowed to play The two young lads aren't good enough (and probably won't ever be) We have four goalkeepers on the books and yet we need a new goalkeeper Well run club 4 1 2 Owlstalk Shop

Dawson might have what it takes longer term but needs to improve... not least his kicking. you mean the goalkeeper who played almost all the matches in the first half of the year, where we ended 3rd. I agree he dropped more clangers than previously, but we looked far more solid as a team in that period. 5
bobness
If Monk jogs on, it's quite possible we'll see Westwood back between the sticks, so this might not be the priority position people are thinking. I'm also not convinced Dawson is as bad as it's made out on here. Before Christmas he was doing quite a decent job. And let's be fair, it can't help to have no leadership in central defence! Swiss Toni
Monk isn’t the only manager to freeze out Westwood. Just saying....
pazowl55
I recon there will be some sort of mutual termination of Westwood's contract in the coming weeks. Cant see him spending the next few months sat at home knowing he could have another whole year without kicking a ball.
DobbinTheDonkey
Dawson is the most frustrating. Has the ability and size but he needs that arrogance and authority. It started to mostly got wrong for him in January . A sending off where the team capitulated in front him, then a last minute winner at end. 2 clean sheets also in that month. Once against a Premiership team and one against the eventual champions of this league. February, conceded 2 goals in 3 matches then another 10 man performance with a last minute pen to make it three. Another 3 with a last minute goal followed by a clean sheet. Then a 3 and a 5. Some were Dawson's fault some of the others were goals where the opposition was allowed to run through the middle of the pitch or runners from midfield not being tracked. We have no good tacklers in midfield. We haven't replace the only one we did have. Luongo who loads spaffed over always looks shot after an hour. Lee is better but isn't a defensive midfielder and Banna must be about 4 foot 6 now after having to carry the whole team on his back. All of the defenders lack concentration and it has cost us dearly. Dawson can be our number one but he needs combative team in front of him who can focus for 96 mintues.
Dot
Didn't jones only sign an extension to cover the end of the season, like nuhiu and Lee. So he's gone.
adelphi1867
Forget Goal keeper, a couple of goal scorers are what we have missed for the last, God knows how long, so that is the priority in my eyes. If we had a consistent goal scorer we would have converted the many chances and half chances we created over this last season Followed by better, more physical midfielders who can move the ball forward, quicker. All of them with pace.

Nobody else will get anywhere close to matching his wages so he won’t go anywhere, especially post Covid. He will sit out his last year and probably spend most of it watching cheadle.
