They averaged 18k last season .  We averaged 25k.

Couldn't be arsed to look up Swansea, but do you think a freshly relegated PL squad wouldn't easily exceed 18k?

#socialistflair

Swansea may indeed average more than 18k but by the same token they won't have many games against teams who average more than 50k either.....nor will we

He also said that Hillsborough has had no money spent on it in 25 years other than the scoreboard and pitch which is blatantly not true but suits his argument.

Also said how great the newly built stand are at Tynecastle yet went on to bemoan the fact that the club are restricted by the size of the stadiums capacity.

Why would the build these new stands smaller than they need? This will be a rhetorical question given that he has flounced out of the debate.

Tynecastle is boxed in on all sides by tenements so they can only go so big - they were looking at sites out of town in the past.

It isn't really relevant though because Hearts are probably at the absolute peak of what they can realistically achieve already.  Scotland just doesn't have the population to sustain enough big/medium sized football clubs to make a credible league - hence tv will never be interested.  This is made worse by the old firm dominance and the fact that they have fans throughout the country diminishing the potential pool for other clubs.

Hearts are one of the bigger clubs in Scotland and probably the equivalent of a decent Championship club (a well run one without any parachute payments - maybe say, Brentford, for example).   But the simple fact is that they could never compete even with Wednesday when it comes to wages; the idea that Clare would have turned down a Premier League offer to go there is just implausible.  The possibility of maybe playing in a couple of Champions League qualifying matches just isn't THAT much of an incentive.  Clare is going there for want of any better offers - no doubt about it.

Still, he could do worse.  Edinburgh is a nice place to live and Hearts are a well-run, relatively successful club.  He's got every chance of a move back to the Premier League in a couple of years if he does well.

I’m going to turn down a move to the English Premier League so that I can go and play in Scotland...

Said no player in the history of the game ever!!!lol

It's simply a case of him picking up a bad injury at the wrong time, his agent flipping up, and Clare himself thinking he's better than he is.

Scottish semi pro football was probably his best option in the end.

No loss whatsoever for us, and 130k is a great deal.

The kids made his decision and I hope it works out for him.Bit of a suprise choice after all the speculation linking him to far bigger clubs down here.

Cant say Im not dissapointed given the new regime here where youth most definately gets a pop at fist team football.

Good luck to him, others will come and go just as good and maybe better,we move on.

His interview since signing for Hearts is dreadful. Talks about himself as though he’s Ronaldinho

No real surprise there, I have no money for any lawyers reading this, but it seems to me that Clare didn’t like Jos criticising him and he wanted to join a club where he will be one of the better players (in his head).  Otherwise leaving a club like Wednesday to join Hearts in Scottish football is not a good career move.

its a bit like a Tottenham player rejecting a one year extension to sign for Wigan for 3 years.

Credit to the lad.  Surely it would have been much easier for him to chase the Premier League cash.  Instead he’s gone with the option where he’s most likely to get minutes on the pitch; could actually do his career wonders that he’s took that route.

Makes some of the bitter comments towards Clare look a bit silly lol
