Apparently he wasn’t our number one target !  #uto

Maybe he should have been. He seems an ideal fit to be, experienced, quality at this level and a leader.

We will have to wait and see who we end up with.

Sadly probably can’t compete with Sunderland financially. And arguably a bigger club than us.

Yep.

Based on recent history, they are.

Have been in the Prem in the not so distant pass. Spent some money. Their decline hasn't gone unnoticed. Heck, that documentary where they largely looked liked idiots probably helped.

Compared to a lot of teams at this level, we will be a more attractive proposition , but that's not the case with Sunderland.

Got to remember Sunderland's population is a third of Sheffields. Never totally agreed with scenario that if the Blunts weren't about we would have double the attendances.  Sunderland have had 40 seasons of 30000+ averages. Both Sheffield clubs combined in 215 seasons have hit 30K on just 20 occasions split 50/50. Without the 7 we had between 1948/53 we would have only had 3 in the remaining 100 seasons. In that period we had 4 at 40K plus which the Blunts have never had. By the way Sunderland only became a City in 1992.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind we would get larger crowds if we were the only team in Sheffield, just as Man Utd or Liverpool would get (even) larger crowds if they were the only team in their respective cities.

If United didn't exist we would get bigger crowds? You don't agree? There are plenty of small clubs in London and the city is big enough to support a few big ones, obviuosly. Last time we got promoted we had the second highest attendance on the day - bigger even than Tottenham who were playing Newcastle to secure their spot in the Champions League for the first time. Manchester is an exception due largely the the worldwide appeal of United and Money of City.

Your logic doesn’t really stack up.

“If Utd didn’t exist we would get bigger crowds?” Yes, I agree. But they do exist. And as such, they’ve taken some of our potential crowd, thus making our crowds smaller. Thus making us a smaller club. [They also take away some of our potential sponsorship and commercial income.]

To say that we’re big because we could have bigger crowds if Utd weren’t around is irrelevant. They are around. Hence Sheffield has, for want of a better expression, two “fairly big” clubs. Sunderland, a city with a smaller population but only one club, has, in terms of crowds, the bigger club.

I think it’s fair to say, that if one of Wednesday or Utd had never been formed Sheffield might have had a club big enough to consistently challenge the big clubs. But they were.

we're not that bad mate, Sunderland will have a bigger budget, move on

I'm usually an optimist. We are 18 days in to January and we're no closer to signing anyone. Moore has come out and said it looks like we may need to wait until the 28th of the month for the signings. We're so badly run.

As good a defender he is i’m not so sure our playing out from the back style would necessarily suit him.

With Hutchinson back there’s no guarantee he’d start

Plus Sunderland will offer more towards subsidised wages

Any player coming in has to be an improvement, so assume we’d prioritise a left sided CB and Batth isn’t/wasn’t first choice

Is anyone surprised it's that red tape again. There have been 6 players signed to league one teams today alone, 3 of them are defenders but according to SWFC, we are having to wait.

maybe if we cast our net a bit wider that WBA and players who have been on loan at Doncaster, then we might have had some players in.

but DM is a yes man and does what he is told by DC.

we are the only team in the country that are resigning youth players we should have resigned months ago, when the Transfer window opened.

It does suit any of the players we have currently either, but that does not stop Darren.

It is only a bigger a surprise, at the amount of set piece goals we concede. It's a shame our manager was not a defender, we might be better set up at the back.... Wait a minute.😁😁😁
