How and when will the season end ?

Finish season in July/early August possibly behind closed doors.

Start new season in mid September.

Scrap FA cup and League Cup next season to accommodate.

That might work?

cant have it behind closed doors unless the government says football is that important it can continue while everything else is stopped

they also have to relax the rules on medical and police cover at sporting events, the police will be needed because fans will still turn up

then there is the problem of players contracts running out at the end of June

Much easier to scrap it and start again when possible

Scrap this season altogether.

Start a new season next August (or whenever possible) but:-

Teams to start the new season with the points they have at the moment.

This would preserve some fairness for the teams doing well at the moment, allowing them to start

the new season with the same advantage that they hold at present.

Likewise teams not doing so well (like us at the moment) would still have it all to do.

Not ideal I know, but at least it would avoid an extension of this season, to who knows when, causing

further ongoing disruption to next seasons league, European and World cup competitions.

If the season were finished behind closed doors, then it really would be the final nail in the coffin for any notion that the fans still matter in any way, shape or form.

An interesting suggestion but I can’t see the Mancs, Leicester, Spurs, Arsenal etc agreeing to Liverpool starting the season with a twenty five point lead !

Imagine being a Leeds or Liverpool fan right now.

Wow.

Talk about the stuff of nightmares.

I know football is very much secondary right now, but if it was us there would be a proper meltdown on here right now.

This year will literally be a year which will go down in history for various reasons. It's absolutely mental.

So we are not scrapping this season altogether, but adding this seasons points up to now onto next seasons, the only way that is fair is if the rest of this seasons matches are completed with the same players as teams have now, or just count the first matches against each team this season and add those points onto next seasons

But how many teams will vote for that, not the ones who aren't at the top and certainly not the ones at the bottom of the leagues

all this season will be cancelled, too many problems starting the season again. If it resumed in say July/ August would they have to play pre-season matches again to get match fit, so would be another month ahead? they couldn't go straight back after break like that. Numerous players out of contract so how would that work

Cancel season and everyone stays as they are, also cancel EFL points deduction

I think 19/20 will be voided and 20/21 will go the same way too (won't be enough time to play all the matches unless all cup competitions are scraped, including UEFA ones, and the money men won't let that happen)...

Guest Grez Bez

It should be cancelled.

What I think will happen is that they'll finish it at a later date whilst not playing the cups next season (and probably fir there on after)

Our defenders seem to have mastered it since the turn of the year/

that's perfectly true. Also when i mention ' No Football for the Foreseeable Future.' it just means that all medical and security resources cannot be provided as cover to football at the present time same goes for all the other sports as well until this Pandemic is eradicated.tbh,it's hard to put a timescale on when Football can resume at the moment.:tango:

Seriously, how many clubs will be in administration by this summer? Eliminate League 2. Bankruptcy court voids all player contracts? All teams start next season with a  P & S deduction of 12 points, except Wednesday start at -33.

Finish this season when safely possible.

Then next season split each Division into 2 based on finish positions - odd number finishes in one mini league, evens in another.

So Championship A and B will be a 12 team league playing each other twice so a 22 game season.  Top of Champ A and B get promoted to Premier and go into a Play Off to decide Champion.   Play offs still happen between 2nd and 3rd in Championship A and B.

Relegation would be teams finishing bottom of each and play off between the two teams in 11th Position.

And repeat for other divisions.  Shorter season and plenty of excitement and should allow a finish May 2021 ready for Euros.

that would roughly half teams income for a full season, not sure many clubs could cope with that, unless players took a 50% pay cut for a season

It's not up to the football authorities. The country is closed down for 2 months at least. The season is over. Football is not important.

Spot on...about time the FA grew a pair and said...you know what this is just a bloody game...thousands are going to die and let's end the season as a void. Then look where we are next year.

How could any decent club even think about legal preceding as they think it's not fair, be disrespecting all those we have lost.
