trev
China is the time machine. They are the country who are 3 months ahead and what happens there will happen everywhere in time. So essentially they have managed to stop new transmissions or cases within the country. But, as they opened borders and travel again. They had 45 new cases come in from abroad. These were mostly Chinese people returning home. So they are panicking again...as they know it's only a matter of time before it spreads again. And it will. Essentially, until a proper vaccine is found. This doesn't go away. Not unless every one catches it, recovers or dies, and thus become immune (if you recover). But then as we've seen with flu, these things mutate and change all the time hence the annual flu jab. Football is living in cloud cuckoo land if they think the season starts again this year. Unless the vaccine is developed/found really soon we are screwed. Our one hope us that existing medicines may be found to work..a few are showing promising results. If it has to be a brand new vaccine created it will take years to develop and test and get the approvals needed for mass production and dissemination worldwide. So yeah....were screwed. The time to be creative with any future league formats is when you know it can start again. Using 2 months of when you can start again to finish this current set of games may be beneficial and may not be but it's fair. All the people saying void the season would be spitting feathers at the suggestion if we were in any of the top 8 places, they be foaming at the mouth if we were in either of the top 2 places 6 or 7 points clear after a 20 year wait. Yeah but we aren't so it's fine.
gurujuan
It’s getting ridiculous now, we are rightly being warned that these restrictions may be in place for another 6 months or longer, and yet the football authorities still warble on about looking at things at the end of next month. They need to cancel all competitions now, in line with what they’ve done with non league football, and start planning for next season That way, it’s fair for everybody. All clubs will start in the competitions they qualified for this season To talk about sport restarting while so many are suffering, is actually quite distasteful

Especially the last sentence. League Cup is completed so should stand. Everything else should be expunged. Why does football and footballers think they are different from the rest of society? Hundreds are dying, livelihoods have been destroyed. Have some dignity and respect and end the season now.

If and when the football restarts and that's a BIG IF, can any one see that we'll still have 4 divisions in a few months time ? given the present emergency, the lockdown is going to last at least 6 months maybe longer. aussieowl87
We get a 21 point deduction. Then the season gets voided.

It's a good point. We could see lots of teams go under. Even at Championship level. There could well be a complete overhaul of leagues after this. Won’t take years And pretty soon existing medicine will be proved effective. To some extent. I agree however that the season should end now. What scares me is the mental fallout of all this. Homes destroyed, businesses destroyed. It will be too much to bear for a lot of people

Stoop
Apologies if already mentioned. Will the players need another pre season when they eventually come back? They can hardly keep themselves match fit with 1 jog per day for 3 months
Highbury Owl
We finish this season off no matter how long it takes. Then we can think about the next season, or half a season, or even no season. But we finish what we have started.
Guest The Horse
If it was us in the promotion places, we'd be going mental if it looked like we were going to be denied. But it's not us. It's Liverpool, Pigs and Leeds. Which is flipping hilarious. I'd wee wee myself laughing. And I've got a massive flipping horse wee pipe too. That's a lot of wee wee and a lot of laughing. We will have at least 6 months of CV19, so just call a end to the season and be done, void end of. This is the greatest disaster since WW2 and indiscriminate as to who gets it. China is almost a totalitarian state so has looked to have managed well. We are a democracy and as such it will take us longer as we follow the niceties like the rule of law and civil rights. No agenda on this even if we end up going down so what the club will exist and play again, unfortunately some on here I guess may not be around to watch us.. To be quite honest I don’t even think about football now and I am a TOTALLY obsessed Wednesdayite. We can come back to football when it is safe to do so.
