Man of the match & scores Blackburn (A)

Bit harsh to say 5/10 when you’ve rated an overall average of 5.85

Surely a 6/10 based on your ratings...or you’ve been too generous

A fair comment...but the 5/10 was for the way we played not an average of the players scores. Added to this I'm still a little bit grumpy about the result

Westwood.

Felt sorry for him at the end, he had no chance with either goal, and was superb today despite the scoreline suggesting otherwise

If we hadn't given away another stupid free kick they wouldn't have scored that first one would they.

We have to cut that our of our game.

Defended brilliantly until the end

Westwood 7

Palmer 5

Iorfa 7 some awful passes, 1 to palmer who was about 5 yards away springs to mind

Borner 7

Fox 7.5 should have gone on the overlap more

Reach 4 forgot he played

Pelupessy 4 Darren Potter

Lee 6.5

Hutchinson 6

Harris 7 tried but no support or he got out muscled

Fletcher 7 tried, no support again can only do so much on his own

FF 6 didn't get into the game

Murphy 6.5 did alright tbh, looked like the player we thought we signed

Nuhiu 6

I gave it to Keiron Lee

I would have given it Westwood, but I thought his positioning for the first goal could have been better

It's not the first time he's been beaten like that

Up to that goal he was running away with it

Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife.

Westwood - 6 - Fine save to deny Rothwell with a close range header, but what's he doing for Blackburn's equaliser? No man's land. Another costly error from him. They are beginning to add up this season. Would've been a contender for Man of the Match before the costly mistake.

Palmer - 6 - Steady enough.

Iorfa - 7 - Thought he had a brilliant game yet again, but beaten too easily for Adarabioyo's equaliser. Like Westwood, contender for MotM before the error.

Borner - 5 - His worst game in a Wednesday shirt thus far. Seemed to struggle aerially for the 1st time against Gallagher, and elementary error that led to Blackburn's winner.

Fox - 7 - Man of the Match - Another good defensive display, provided good support for Harris down the left, and a great ball into the near post for Fletcher's effort which led to the goal.

Hutchinson - 6 - Played very deep again. Almost as a third centre half, which didn't help with our inability to control the game, especially in the 1st half.

Pelupessy - 5 - Battled and toiled away, but you have to question the selection, to play two limited midfielder's in Hutchinson and Pelupessy against a side so bereft of confidence. We looked devoid of any creativity until Forestieri came on. Awful corners as well.

Lee - 6 - No impact on the game whatsoever in the 1st half. Played too deep, which forced Pelupessy to be our most advanced midfielder?! Better in the 2nd half, and utilised the half spaces much better...which is his strength. But, over 90 minutes, we need more from him...especially with Bannan absent.

Harris - 7 - Looked to try and make things happen, and it was down the left hand side where we looked our most dangerous throughout the game.

Reach - 5 -  Anonymous again.

Fletcher - 6 - Thankless task. Looked frustrated with the lack of service and support. Kept going, unfortunate not to score in lead up to the goal.

Forestieri - 6 - A spark. Not at his best, but he looks to make things happen.

Murphy - 7 - Decent enough cameo performance. Looked bright, and looked to get, what should've been, the winning goal.

Nuhiu - 6 - When Nuhiu came on, we held the ball up better, got support up to the strikers and started to look like a side that could function offensively. Before that, it was poor.

Overall...

Monk got this one wrong. I accept, that with two minutes to go, winning 1-0 away from home, they'd be no complaints. It could've been seen as a good away performance...keep things tight, and nick a goal.

However, Blackburn were there for the taking. They looked bereft of confidence, and had we took the game to them, I'd have fancied us to cause them some real issues. As it was, we looked like we were going to nick an undeserved victory, and in the end, got a gut-wrenching defeat.

A 4-1-4-1 with Hutchinson and Pelupessy as part of a midfield trio is't going to be pretty to watch, nor functionally attacking wise. And we weren't. I accept we were without our best player, and that's a major blow, no doubt about it, but we were toothless and lacked ideas, support, penetration and flair. Some teams have to set up like that, because they don't possess players with attributes to make things happen...but we do, Reach, Harris, Lee, Forestieri, Murphy...all have quality...and today, we didn't use them effectively enough.

I've been saying Monk won't be pleased with our attacking patterns of play, but today was a major faux pas from Monk himself. Yep, we could've pinched a 1-0 victory...but in reality, a side with ambitions of promotion, should've been winning this game comfortably and putting a nervous, disjointed Blackburn side to the sword.

Those backing flap wood . That first goal was embarrassing . Another glaring gaff from him . Pathetic

You are never happier when seeking attention for slating players.

Westwood kept us in the game until that point. Gets positioning wrong and you are all over him. It was a sloppy foul and poor marking leading to goal so was not just down to him.

Having pathetic nicknames like that is what a pig would do.

Sad.

Speaks the fountain of all knowledge . Did you spend your 40 quid today ? If so give your take on the game rather than obsessing with me . Westwood has made countless errors this season . Very costly . It doesn’t matter if he makes 10 worldies , silly blunders on a almost weekly basis are not acceptable . He’s on the decline and needs replacing . Can fluff it up any way you like but that’s the truth .  All were poor , but to give him man of the match and 9 out of ten , behave .

Westwood 7* 8/9 bar positioning for 2nd

Palmer 4 again never looks like getting a cross in and silly fouls, moses deserves a chance

Iorfa 6 usual good showing bar getting beat in air for 1st

Borner 6 like iorfa harshly punished for a slight error

Fox 6 steady, crosses a bit off

Hutch 6 steady

Joey 2 cant kick a ball, especially a still one, just runs about. looks horrific in final 3rd, shouldnt be allowed there, if he has to play just get in the way and pass it to bannan

Lee 5 struggling to get in games these days

Reach 4 as usual ran about with little end product

Harris 6 got some crosses in but little support on overlap

Fletch 6 did his best but no service

Ff 6

Nuhiu 6

Murphy 6

Poor start but glad we finally went for it after 60 mins, was looking good for a win then we finally conceeded 2. 2nd unlucky, 1st cheap

Westwood - 9. a bright light in a sea of pedestrian mediocrity

Palmer - 3. Absolutely stunk the place out. Didn’t block a single cross all day. Looked like he was auditioning for a John Smiths advert.

Iorfa - 7. Good enough but loose in possession too often.

Börner - 8. Standard performance. Made of concrete

Fox - 7. Solid, got forward well. Used the ball pretty well too

Reach - 4. Nowt came off and gave up trying

Pelupessy - 4. Can’t believe someone had the audacity to ask him about a new contract in midweek. Forget the corners. The rest of his performance was poo

Hutch - 6. Did fine, but no need for him and Joey the Kangaroo

Lee - 7. Thought he actually played well. Passed the ball positively, worked the angles well. So much more comfortable in a 2

Harris - 6. Toiled mainly in vain

Fletcher - 7. Hold up play was very good. But dealing with skyrockets from Hezbollah for most of the game.

Thought Monk got the team selection wrong but then made the right changes to sort it out.

In the end we got what we deserved. Zero. They should have had a penalty too.

Now...can we stop all the ‘drop Bannan’ and ‘get Bannan off set pieces’ nonsense?

spot on about Bannan bud, glaringly obvious yesterday

I would expect any keeper playing in the championship to make those saves. Nothing special about any of them really.

Defending was good until the mad last few minutes.

Westwood 7

Palmer 6 average at best.

Iorfa 7 odd pass went awol but defended well until first goal where he should have done better.

Borner 7 Mostly solid

Fox 8 excellent once again. MOM

Reach 4 Did little.

Pelupessy 5 Try's hard but not good enough.

Lee 6. Did ok but not the same player of 2 years ago, seems to have lost a little pace.

Hutchinson 7 Our best midfielder.

Harris 7 Tried hard and looked our best threat most of game, I wouldn't have taken him off.

Fletcher 7 Struggled at times until Nuhui joined attack.

FF 6 Didn't do much.

Murphy 6.5 did ok..... for a change.

Nuhui 7 should have been on much earlier.

Can we please stop all the Westwood knocking as well.

I have stuck up for Dawson, because i think he is a decent keeper and people were slagging him off unnecessarily.

Now we are going the other way.

Westwood is still a very good keeper, yes he made a mistake yesterday, he will make more mistakes, everybody does.

Can't we just say we have 3 decent keepers, and a good backup.

Morgan Fox was our man of the match yesterday. He will never be Roberto Carlos but the lad has come on leaps and bounds after being subjected to boos and jeers from the fans since he came to the club. Well done Morgan Fox!

Can someone get some more confidence into him and coach him to overlap a bit more (particularly at home) as when he does so he often puts a good quality ball in.
