Dean Henderson is a good goalkeeper there’s no doubt about it.

Is he better than De Gea? No.

is he better than Arrizabalaga? No.

People are getting caught up on the mistakes the likes of Arrizabalaga and De Gea are making. Some are glaringly obvious errors which are happenening purely due to a lack of concentration. Chelsea’s 2nd goal is a prime example.

What nobody seems to look at is the fundamentals. De Gea more often than not makes the game look simple. He saves the shots you’d expect him to save. When he makes a mistake it’s a glaringly obvious error which, usually is a result of poor concentration.

Other goalkeepers, the likes of Henderson, Nick Pope, Dubravka, all good keepers and, very rarely make an obvious error however, I’d argue they concede more goals where you’d think ‘The keeper should do better’.

Is he better than De Gea this season? Yes

Is he better than Kepa outright? Definitely-shocking keeper at this level. I'm astounded you could say that about him

There is a bit difference between being a good goalkeeper for a lower end/mid-table PL club and being the goalkeeper for one of the top, elite PL clubs.

Different mindset, whole different level of pressure and in someways a different skill set.

When you are in goal for a top side, you may have games where there is very little to do and then suddenly you'll be called into making a world class save. When you are playing lower down the table you are more likely to be peppered with shots throughout the 90 minutes. You also need a big personality and to be mentally tough.

If you look at Man United, only Van Der Sar and De Gea (until his recent meltdown) have manged to fill the gloves of big Schmeichel. Everyone else, came up short, many of whom were very good goalkeepers.

Tim Howard, Mark Bosnich, Ben Foster and so on.

No denying Henderson's talent, but just because he's thrived at Shef U doesn't mean he's nailed onto be a massive success at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Truth be told, I think he has a bit of the Joe Hart/Jordan Pickford about him in terms of personality. Bit of a big mouth with an ego.

They were talking about Henderson on the radio last night and they reckon Man U want him back for next season. DeGea is making too many mistakes and Hendersons stock is rising. Said maybe it's time to give DeGea a rest if only to focus his mind a bit.

Don’t care where he goes, as long as he goes. Been a massively important player for them for three seasons. They simply won’t be able to replace him. A similar keeper would cost a fortune so they have to look lower or gamble on another youngster and they surely can’t be that lucky again. Can they?

The funny thing is they will get absolutely zilch for him too. Lose "their" best player for nothing..... i think man u might give him a go next year tho.......

Some strange logic in here.  Why would United expect to get anything for Henderson when he isn't 'their' player, as you point out?

And if we are sticking a monetary value on it, well he has helped them get to a top 10 PL spot, so that in itself has already upped the coffers for them significantly next season.

A big loss for them to be sure, but that back 3 of theirs, and the way their whole team defends from the front made his job significantly easier. Stick him in that carcrash Chelsea defence, and I think we may see him having a very different season.

I would agree with a lot of that, and I think ManU will want him to prove his metal in Europe next, but not with a top PL competitor.

The only reason ManU loaned him out to the Pigs again was because they never expected them to be pushing so highly, noone did.

They've just signed Wes Foderingham, a 29 year old from Rangers. See what Wilder can do with him.

Pigs will probably end up going out and getting Joe Hart

I don’t think Jack Butland would be a bad shout.

Decent keeper who seems to have lost his way in recent years, the sort of challenge Wilder seems to go for.

Wilder has a knack of getting players to play above the level most people would say they're capable of. A lot of this is by having them work harder than their opposite number. Obviously it doesn't always work but hard work beats talent a lot of the time as the old adage goes.

But different when it comes to goalkeeping though. You're either a good enough keeper or you're not. No amount of fitness and work and desire can make up for your lack of skill. If they've got any sense they will employ the best keeper they can afford as wilder can't work his voodoo on a keeper as much.

Odd one Joe Hart.

There must still be a decent keeper in him, maybe just needs to run of games and confidence.

Strange what happened with him. Went from been at the peak of his powers to on Burnley’s bench in the space of a couple of years
