Sheffield Wednesday manager unveils how he will recruit for next season

Recommended Posts

Sensible to first look at whether the u23s are good enough. That’s what he’s been doing during the injury crisis and what he will be doing in training. Maybe they will be or maybe they won’t and we’ll look elsewhere.

I wonder what the situation will be with Clare.

Being injured I can't see many clubs being that interested in the near future.

Will the club withdraw the contract that is on offer once his current contract expires? or sooner?

I don't suppose anyone knows how his rehabilitation is going?

I doubt that they would withdraw the offer to clare .....if they did that it would mean that they wouldn't get any sort of compensation fee for him as technically they would be releasing him .

#SWFC boss Jos Luhukay has explained how Sheffield Wednesday will recruit players for next season

"I have spoken with the chairman about the future, about our team, the club. We are on speaking terms,"

"We are intensive with that, we must look at what we can do for the future.

"Money is not important, what is important is what you want to do and see what is possible. We are looking for the options we can have, we do what we can and what we can't do. We must try to come to a good team together."

"First we will look at our own club - our academy. For me personally but also for the club and the future very important. "We had Sean Clare, Jordan Thorniley and a lot of young players and also both goalkeepers. Joe (Wildsmith) and Cammy (Dawson) they have been 14 years at the club so you have an identification with the club but also with the fans.

Jos was speaking in todays press conference (full video in a thread on Owlstalk)

"I think it is very important to look in the Championship for typical players - they know the league, they know the culture, they know how to play in the Championship. I think also we must look at the under 23s at bigger clubs in the Premier League - players with a high dynamic, with a high spirit but also maybe in the future need to take a step back and after maybe go a step forward.

"This is the way - first look at our own players in the Academy, then the Championship and maybe under 23s from the Premier League clubs but who maybe don't have a chance for the first team but maybe the Championship is maybe the challenge to go further in their own career."

Looks like we're in for a way more organised approach from now on

that's a big ' AT LAST' we are working with the future in mind, the long term future.

Plus Jossie is staying.

That sounds sensible and so much for assuming he would return and look at German and Dutch lagues.

The worry for me is, it’s not his decision, is it Probably the same people doing the recruitment, as those responsible for last years

This sense that Jos is talking seems to imply that Carlos' transfer plans of 'buy anyone available regardless of position, health, fitness or quality' is not the way to go.

Its confusing when a manager comes to our club and talks sense, he didnt have to angrily crumple a £20 note either to get his point across!!!

Just look at Jos's face here, he's beaming. A huge difference from the one a few weeks ago. here is a man who is looking forward to the future at the club and not what the hell have I inherited here.

Given he walked out of a previous job because the chairman was interfering I don’t think that will be the case some how

I love the fact Doyen gone and a more well let’s face it common sense approach has been chosen good on D.C. for changing his philosophy abit to still achieve our main goal the prem. with our youth and maybe if it doesn’t work in a season or two atleast fair play is forgotten and we can splash some cash again. We will be doing a derby after their 2 play off losses they had a couple seSons rebuilding then now they are up there again we will do something similar
