I even remember being coached about passing back to the keeper when I was about 10. Never ever pass it so it would go into the net if the keeper misses it. A proper moment that summed up the match really.

Surely Wildsmith could have got to that? It wasn't exactly flying into the net. He needs to get some lighter boots maybe.

Wildsmith's legs were moving rapidly but he wasn't actually going anywhere. It was like watching a glitch in FIFA 96.

 

Also, I appreciate he had virtually no time to think about it, but in that situation he should have just dropped on the ball. Better to concede an indirect freekick for a backpass than watch the ball go into the net.

1. Wing should have just taken the easy option and passed short to Shodipo to clear up the line.
2. Brown could have smashed it clear first time, but played the blind back-pass.
3. Wildsmith got stuck in treacle and then just stood there watching the ball roll into the goal.

His mobilty or lack of was incredible, like he was wearing lead divers boots. The ball trickled into the net.
