The GuruJuan Transfer Megathread 2021 (and beyond)

Bit surprised that we are not getting linked with Matt Smith from Man City. Moore brought him to Doncaster and absolutely adored him and Smith played best football of his career under Moore.

Stay in the division season 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I remain optimistic that we shouldn't have too much relegation trouble if Moore can get the right players in and Chansiri doesn't interfere too much.

Given that Europe is just ‘down the road’ why isn’t our recruitment team looking to find some ‘gems’ from the leagues in Poland, Hungary, Sweden and Denmark to name just a few.

Surely there are some decent strikers and keepers that would see a move into the EFL with a club such as Wednesday to be a very appealing proposition.

All we are hearing at the moment is about trying to loan players or get players who are down the pecking order or just been released from Premiership/Championship clubs or some of the up and coming lads from L1/L2

Come on our recruitment team please look a little bit further than your nose end.

Your little black books should be full of possibilities!!

Yeah, UK football doesn't work like that any more.

There are 36 pages of rules that players must meet to qualify for a work permit.

Mainly it boils down to 'they have to be a current international or already established at a club in one of the big leagues'.

No more 'bargains' from random European leagues.

Which given Chansiri's record is probably for the best.

oh ffs. On to the next one then.

Probably, although not sure how much game time he'd get in front of Etheridge. Likely to alert other champion clubs though as to Burnley's preference.

Maybe time to pursue other options.

hopefully we have got a back up or 2 already lined up just incase something like this did happen. To be honest I couldn’t see him going to league one.

Totally agree but to be fair as soon as Burnley said they wanted him out on loan to a Championship side we should have been talking to other possibilities. The young guy at West Ham i believe would be a good choice .
We are getting desperate for a decent keeper and at least two strikers so let’s hope for some good news over the next 7/10 days.

I hear Bettinelli is a free agent after leaving fulham, would be a great signing with no fee attached.

Not sure if he would drop to the third division though. Or if we have any money to make him anything like an offer.

Yep - the days of EFL clubs making smart, relatively-unheard-of signings from European leagues disappeared the day Brexit happened.

The likes of Pukki wouldn't be allowed in nowadays.

Surely if the doom merchants are correct and we are relegation candidates then coming to us would give him plenty of practice, which must be good for the parent club

After all one of the keepers from a team with one of the worst premier league records of all time made the England squad 😜

Realistically this season is a stay in the division, avoid the scrap at the bottom, if we push for the top half with the players we currently have it will have been a good season.

If we are realistically wanting to be anywhere near the league one play offs, we need two goal scoring strikers, a decent keeper, some legs in midfield that can also offer a goal threat and some creativity on the wings. The lad from QPR had a good season in a very attack minded Oxford team we will wait and see how he does with us. We also need to find a few gems in the youngster to step up and play 20+ games and contribute either goals or helping to keep clean sheets.

And pray we do not pick up too many injuries but with a strongest 11 that includes Iorfa, Hutch, Dunkley and Luongo that is unlikely.

Dunkley

lol

Players we’ve got now will see us top 10 probably just short of the playoffs the difference in division is like the gulf between prem and champ. There’s some right dross in league one.

Heard a rumour Palmer is off to Forest

Good, a move well overdue.

Been a great servant to be fair but he just has held us back from getting a proper right back as he can do a job there.

Definitely a plus from me especially if a fee involved.
