Absolutely.

It seems that all our planning will bring us in situation to have 2 experienced and highly paid right back and 2 back up left backs. Not to mention lacking a first choice keeper, playmaker, at very least one experienced striker...

This!

DM: youth will get a chance.

Club: let’s sign a 30 year old right back that averages an assist every half year on what other teams pay their star striker.

This club and the many fans that seem delighted by this don’t ever fail to surprise me.

I think none of our players have signed anywhere because firstly for over 2 years they were crap and over paid on excessive wages that no sane person would pay them at a well run football club.

Lees is returning from injury, Penney (Ipswich), Odabajo (likely QPR), Pelupessy (Turkey), Rhodes (Huddersfield), Shaw and Urhoghide (Celtic), JVA (Waregem)

So that leaves just Westwood, Reach, Harris, Lees and Kachunga yet to find new clubs not exactly many of the 14 players that left still being paid by the club is there. Maybe £70-100k a week between the 4 of them.

Sorry mate, it was a tongue in cheek reference to the “ why haven’t our released players” thread. The popular reason that the big earners hadn’t signed for anyone was because they were rinsing one last pay cheque out of the club.  I don’t agree with that view, I agree with yours. Hope that clarifies a bit.

Nah more likely we will do a Wigan, get relegated not be allow to sign any players due to financial issues, dealing in cheap loans and kids and end up struggling at the wrong end hoping that either some of the kids come good or someone buy the club to get us out of the mess.

Hull City last season signed 10 players and had 4 loan signing, they paid big fees for a few players including Malik Wilks.

Don’t think Wigan had any players left. We’ve kept a good core of good experienced championship players.

But it's the same sh.it every pre season isn't it , we have NEVER done all our business by the first match , why I don't know ? Always have to play catch up

Very tough to do it by the first game I bet 75% or more don’t and even more so this year when there are so many frees this year and the balls in the player court.

If we had a striker or a keeper lined up they would already have been here, we had two left backs on trial then sign another from Huddersfield reserves.

We have been linked with 4 or 5 keepers and signed none which suggest we probably don't have an coming in in the next week and as for the striker front, every team pretty much in league one have signed forwards and attacking players and we have signed none. Either we have no targets and we are using the tried and tested failure route of paying over the odds for crap loan players who will add little to the team other than increasing the wage bill.

Last season alone we wasted the best part of £2m on Marriott, Brown and Flint while letting young talent such as Urhoghide and Shaw leave for a fraction of what we wasted on loan players. I hope we go no where near premiership loans.

How do you know they already be here? Impossible when most prem sides do not  let players go till they decide who stays? Agree we might not get them but we’ll have targets lined up ! Also agree we wasted money on all over above and that’s because they weren’t most likely the original targets and were panic loans ? We chased wba striker all summer he went to millwall we got Marriott 😳so saying they already be here makes no sense

Why oh why when we have wasted millions upon millions of pounds each season signing crap premier league loans, would we be sat on our hands waiting once again for a premiership teams to let us loan one of their players that don't make their premier league squads. We are a division 3 team where the average wage in the league is about £3-5k a week for establish experience players. A squad player in the premier league will be not £10-20k a week.

We are not in that market anymore, does the fact we sign a bloke that got released by Everton after playing 20 games for Wycombe, we have signed a kid on loan from QPR with one season in league one and another kid who last season at Huddersfield made 13 appearance totalling a grand total of 313 minutes of football. We are not shopping in the bargain basement that would be a step up in what we are shopping in.

Stop looking to the premier league loans that's what help get us in the mess we are. We need league one standard players with experience of this league or young hungry players that can be developed into asset of the future.

Solid defence and goals from plenty of players not something that we should aspire to having then. Won't be fixed in one window though

Most of the crap has been moved on, so that is a start

Realistically this season is a stay in the division, avoid the scrap at the bottom, if we push for the top half with the players we currently have it will have been a good season.

If we are realistically wanting to be anywhere near the league one play offs, we need two goal scoring strikers, a decent keeper, some legs in midfield that can also offer a goal threat and some creativity on the wings. The lad from QPR had a good season in a very attack minded Oxford team we will wait and see how he does with us. We also need to find a few gems in the youngster to step up and play 20+ games and contribute either goals or helping to keep clean sheets.

And pray we do not pick up too many injuries but with a strongest 11 that includes Iorfa, Hutch, Dunkley and Luongo that is unlikely.

That’s why he looking at peacock Farrell and the likes ? Yes your right we ain’t shopping in the basement market but the one below ! But the one below is where you get the fringe players ! We are stuffed money wise and it it wot it is. Wot moore will be hoping to pick up is one that steps up and does ok? All down to money we can’t pay a transfer fee so we have to pick up the scraps ....I’d like tried and tested but all gona be a gamble no matter who or where we sign them from

Bang on the money mate.

We're clearly penny pinching and to be signing a RB when Palmer is more than capable at this level and Iorfa can fill in too, is madness. All our efforts should be spent on getting strikers in, why the club are even entertaining using resources on Hunt is beyond me!

Not being funny or argumentative but we don’t know what the budget for wages is do we? Hunt might be a relatively inexpensive signing given how much we have moved on. It’s not necessarily a righ5 back or a striker ( well I hope not or we really up the creek)

Fair point, we don't, however that said, if we look at the 3 signings so far, it would be fair to assume that they're on very low wages in comparison to what we were paying just last season. When you then look at the other players we've been linked with so far, Hunt and the wages you'd associate with a player of his standing don't seem to fit in to market we've been shopping in.

Hopefully it's just paper chat.

Given that Europe is just ‘down the road’ why isn’t our recruitment team looking to find some ‘gems’ from the leagues in Poland, Hungary, Sweden and Denmark to name just a few.

Surely there are some decent strikers and keepers that would see a move into the EFL with a club such as Wednesday to be a very appealing proposition.

All we are hearing at the moment is about trying to loan players or get players who are down the pecking order or just been released from Premiership/Championship clubs or some of the up and coming lads from L1/L2

Come on our recruitment team please look a little bit further than your nose end.

Your little black books should be full of possibilities!!

I'm not sure we could attract many players who'd satisfy the Home Office's post-Brexit requirements for a visa.

Bit surprised that we are not getting linked with Matt Smith from Man City. Moore brought him to Doncaster and absolutely adored him and Smith played best football of his career under Moore.
