Paddy Power had best price about him.

That sudden change indicates they have heard something or somebody has had large bet which skewed books.

Interesting to watch other prices tomorrow.

you can't put a large bet on these markets-try putting £100 on they will limit you.

I don't entirely disagree but assuming it takes a week or two of training and matches for a new manager to know what he's got at his disposal and to make a good assessment of the players he will need to bring in then we're pretty much out of window time already anyway.

Only way we get the right players in this window is if Thompson and Bullen etc are working with other staff behind the scenes to get deals done. Either that or a manager hoping to come in already having spoken to players he's worked with in the past about the possibility of joining too.

No doubt there's only so much we can do in this window, but the gaps which might need filling are glaring: if we hire a manager who prefers a back four, then we surely need a left-back; if he plays a back three, then not so much.

Up top, we might need a target man, but only if the new manager likes to use one. If he prefers a front three with pacey wide-men cutting in, then we need to recruit quite differently.

Appointing a manager with knowledge of our squad and the rest of the league would help massively, but either way, we need a manager to set the parameters of our recruiting, otherwise we've little hope of forming a coherent squad.

I agree with that if much larger than your normal stake.

If you have an account and regularly wager £100 they will accept it.

They have now brought into 4-11 which indicates they do not want any more bets as they are slightly shorter than rivals. Th e price was already odds on and somebody placed a bet or asked for a bet which concerned them to put it to 1-7.

The firms are cautious in these markets as they have been stung many times to tune of thousands so you are correct it is more difficult getting big money on than in some other mediums. I do not know size of market the larger it is the larger wager they will entertain. The bookmakers run them because they can be quite lucrative for example lots of small bets on Cowley, Cook and Pearson if none of them get it they will profit.

Tried that, placed £1000 cook next manager, skybet...was never going to press bet btw.

Anyhow..red crossed, pop up...max bet on this market is £65.00,  he was 1/2 at the time.

Just wondered what size bet they would take...I have never had a bet on next manager. Perhaps they would have took it if I had a history of placing big losing bets on managers.

I do have fairly large bets on other stuff..

Shortly after he went 1/3...could be my fault.🙂

I can see this being DC's first question:

DC: "Do you need a left back?"

Candidate: "Of course, if we change the style of play or formation we . . . . . . "

DC: "NEXT!!!!!"

That gives you an idea of size of market it is either quite small or they would sustain heavy losses if that name came up. I also suspect they have heavy percentage on overall bets in their favour.

I had £10 on Cook at 16-1 ay outset of betting just for fun had no prior knowledge. I do not bet heavy on football.

That assault on Haaland , Keane said he never regretted it. Horrible man, would loathe to see him anywhere near the club.

It looked like he meant it, so it would be hard for him to regret it. I don't/wouldn't mind him, but don't think he would be the right choice.

My feeling is Chansiri has conducted his interviews and is sitting on his hands seeing how the next couple of fixtures work out.

We have seen a big up lift in results since Pulis left (if not particularly in performances), and it's my feeling that he doesn't want to rock the boat or jump into giving a hefty contract to someone, when we could stay up with Thompson.

I'm not saying in any way I think this is a prudent position, particularly considering the ever shortening transfer window, it's just how I reckon he's thinking.

That's my worry, too.

I know there are no guarantees on football, but sticking with Thompson feels like it would be a massive and unnecessary gamble, which, should it backfire, would almost certainly see us relegated to League One.

I'd rather back a more proven manager, myself.

My worry is that we stick with Thompson for these next two crucial games, and if results go against us, we've blown our best chance of staying up before the new man even gets through the door.

Completely agree. Giving it to Thompson imo would be a massive mistake/gamble that could well cost us our place in the league. I like Thompson but I don’t think he should be given the job long term. Cook is the man for me.
