Beauchief Owl
Bruce might not last much longer at Newcastle if the fans have their way. Shocking performance last night.

He said himself he wanted to sack Pulis 3 weeks earlier than he did so that puts him at the start of December to start sounding out possible candidates. Everytime we lose a manager it seems like the day they leave is the day we start looking. It’s absolutely killing us and why we ended up with someone like Monk who was out of work from the day Bruce left, but appointed months later. Its p*as poor and makes the club look an even more unorganised mess. We have won every game in this period. And we often get great results between managers. if anything DC should take even longer . Think with all this dithering about our chairman would fit in well with UK government. Also as a side note listened to Peterborough chairman's (very good) podcast today and he was asked about thoughts on SWFC, basically re pulis debacle said we should have been aware it may happen due to pulis' history with other clubs, also said whoever our "advisors" are should be shot - hard to disagree Maybe hard to totally disagree but WTF has it to do with a L1 chairman. Unprofessional.

Not disputing any of that, but it still wouldn't be a reason for a potential manager to refuse a job because the future employer too 3 weeks to decide whether he was the right candidate or not.

In all seriousness now the virus has hit the squad and it’s looking like postponements are a distinct possibility, chances are our fixtures condense massively. You’ve then got to ask is it worth taking on a manager that’s just going to be doing team selection and recovery sessions. We might not be looking at any meaningful time on the training ground until the end of March.

How much advice do they have to get wrong before he looks elsewhere?

We don't play in championship until end of January now, would imagine training ground be open early next week, should get new manager in place this week then has nearly two weeks to work with squad before Preston game (what's chances we have two new managers in same season both whose first game in charge is against Preston)

A new manager could not do much training ground is closed at moment and who knows when will be open. It is a possibility delay is due to Covid crisis. The current situation works heavily in favour of appointing a manager who knows league and has some knowledge of players. DC got shafted with TP he said he was not sure and was persuaded to take him. You can guarantee our advisors were pushing more trash inhis direction and possibly good thing he is thinking about it. Cook was not in first wave of those pushed for job but is now.

Jim
I always thought that Thompson would get the Coventry and Wycombe games. Obviously that’s not going to be the case now. Our next game is not for 10 days in the cup and there is every chance we might have to play a mixture of senior pros and youngsters again? This gives DC arguably the best part of 2 more weeks to appoint someone? Given that players will probably be brought in above the managers head then it’s not particularly crucial that a manager is appointed before signings are made? Personally I think players will be signed in the last 3 or 4 days of the window and Thompson will be given the rest of the season? Not ideal but I think we could do a lot worse? When was the last time we appointed a manager who was already in work? Thats a fair point and one reason no great success. Scouring ranks of unemployed is never best source of managers. If out of work over 12 months should not be considered.
