Michael Hector.

Chelsea won't drop their asking price until the last possible minute while there's more than one potential buyer. But the last buyer standing will get this down a bit, and Chelsea will strongly prefer to sell because that asking price (for the January window) is slashed as of 5.01pm.

It'll go to the wire because none of the potential buyers have an existential need for another CB. We probably have enough bodies as it stands, even without the Bates interest.

If the Hector deal is off and Forest are bidding £7mil for McKenna, then I guess that leaves us clear for Bates

Would be a shame about Hector though. He's a ready made fit, with a tried & tested partnership with Lees

Isn't McKenna in Croatia and going to play tonight in Europe for Aberdeen?

In reality it was probably hours ago Forest submitted the bid, seems even on deadline day news obviously isn't leaked completely live. The lads probably boarded a plane back to the uk hours ago but as fans you only hear about things later on.

Get the feeling this isn't going to happen.

Got to back DC here, if it's not financially right for us then walk away.  Shame for Hector as it appears he really enjoyed it with us and would be perfect fit to come back alongside Tom Lees.

Bloke has been loaned from pillar to post and first time it looks he's really fit within a team and fanbase falls at the last hurdle.

If we don't get this sorted, I hope he goes somewhere.  He doesn't seem the type to sit on his backside for year getting paid for nothing.

Unless DC using the media (Bates link) to put pressure on Chelsea dropping asking price....
