The flip side of that is they want 8mill for one of their first choice centre backs, who's contract has another 2 years on it. Hector, on the other hand has NEVER played for Chelsea, is in the last year of his contract and are supposedly asking for 5mill.

It just wouldn’t make sense, them asking for £5m, when they have let equivalent players move this summer for considerably less.  Factor in the figure they want for Luiz, a serial winner, and it makes even less sense.  Unless of course, we’ve upset them with some ridiculous offer, that has annoyed them A bit like Norwich did to us

Surely, just for once, things are stacked in our favour with this one. Doesn’t seem anyone else is in for him/ he wants to go anywhere else. Come 5pm his value plummets as he can sign a pre contract in the next window and leave for next to nothing. Or run down his last year. Either way Chelsea will lose out if they don’t sell today

This.

TBH, there may be other clubs in for him - we don't know. But 2 things are very clear.

 - He's desperate to come here, over any other club.

 - No club is going to pay 5mill for him.

It's being common knowledge Chelsea are out to make a profit on Hector - which is just crazy.

Back DC 100% here.

I think they will want to sell more than we need to buy.

Chelsea want to make a profit, clubs aren't taking the bait.

My view is wait until January, see how Borner has settled in and then make a bid. Potentially even wait until he is available on a free in the summer.

Or we wait till Jan and just sign a pre contract agreement with him.

All to lose, for Chelsea.

Personal terms have apparently already been done. So once fee is agreed, then surely will be quick. Can't he come up for a medical and get all the forms ready and then include fee once fully agreed?

stick to your guns though Chansiri and pay what he is worth. Which is not 5 million. We can cope without him.

You can't sign a pre-contract agreement with players in the same nation until 3 months before the end of their contract, only teams from a foreign nation can sign players with 6 months to go.

As soon as the deadline comes, Hector's value drops. They might as well let him go at the last minute and save the wages.

Game of chicken.

Wait till 4.30pm then say to chelsea here's £1.5m or get nowt in the summer
