What today shows is .....

Recommended Posts

So many glaring things you could pick up from todays game.

Full backs are absolutely shocking going forward.

Midfield two of Bannan and Pelupessy doesn’t work.

Serious lack of pace.

No one gets close enough to Fletcher when he’s having to hold the ball up.

Its alright being workman like but you won’t win many games playing like we did today because we won’t score enough.

.... that Rome wasn’t built in a day. It’s going to take SA, SB, SC,and LB time to undo the damaged wreaked by JL and latterly CC.

Firstly we haven’t had an attacking plan or way of affecting the opposition since the play-off final. We’ve focused on weaknesses that our opponents might exploit in us rather how we might hurt them. Our forays forward have been ad hoc at best and based on hope at worst. We won’t become a free flowing attacking team overnight. Learned behaviour needs time to to become instinct.

Secondly, lack of match fitness and regular game time caught up with certain players today against a team full of energy and commitment

It makes you wonder what goes on in training

is it just bannan practicing lobbing it up to fletcher with no one around him?

Without FF or Joao, we have no pace, we are very predictable, and we rely on wonder goals or set pieces.

Of course a fit Hooper dropping deep, or a fit Lee arriving late in the box, would also help.

I hope the new team realise how important it is to get some power and pace up front. Wev'e been screaming out for this now for 2 seasons. How we need a JJ of old or Antonio.

The full backs are the main issue for me. Got in loads of good spaces and delivered nothing. They both look afraid to run with the ball and even with time and space failed to deliver a single decent cross.

That’s fair enough, but at least they’re doing their day job No goals conceded again, and the defence we’ve generally had a problem with, suddenly looks a lot more solid  Ideally, yes, we’d like them to get forward and create, but after Jos, it had to be back to basics. Maybe we should look at those further forward, especially with Hutchinson giving them a platform from which to create.

But but but , I thought we were going for the play offs ?! No exactly we aren’t . Maybe if the stupidity banging on about going up stops , the meltdowns won’t occur every time the result we are looking for doesn’t occur . Average team now performing to the best of its ability , hopefully the penny drops and stays dropped

Pace , our lack of any . We cant attack at speed , we can't stretch teams , we must be the most pedestrian team in the championship. This isn't a new problem , we have been screaming out for pace for years.

Exactly this, it wouldn’t take much to turn us into a more efficient team. Add say a Knockaert type player on the right side, with Fletcher and Winnall/Joao upfront, Reach on the left, Bannan & Hutch in the middle. And I reckon we would become a team that wins games 1-0, 2-1, like the Brighton team that got promoted. Obviously improvements to full backs would help too

Totally appreciate your comments re defence. Funny that we’ve played a settled back four for five games and stopped conceding. I just found it frustrating yesterday that time and again they were in good positions to create and didn’t deliver. Hopefully it 2ill be a priority for the new management team to either replace or improve this area of their game. Not hammering them at all because the improvement is obvious.

It would appear that way...

But they all have coaching badges so they must know what they are doing.:tango:

Today shows.................that we have more players of a lower end champ/league 1 standard than an upper end champ / prem standard.

How many of today’s starting 11 do you think are of a good enough standard to get us promoted - Bannan, Reach, Lees?

Possibly, Certainly, Never.
