I hope he tweets to congratulate Brooks on making Wales squad. I would if it was a pal of mine.

Thats a little bit different but you know that. You say that as if you’re glad the thick lad liked the tweet the other day.

Top players do get the hump.

What would happen if we put an unproven kid who hasn't signed a contract in the first eleven above proven, experienced , championship, and in some cases Premier League players and Internationals?

I'm not saying we shouldn't. Things do need freshening up.

But.............. in the  hierarchical structure of the changing room - All would not be well .

Bicycle-gate should be notice of that.

Feathers would be more than ruffled.

And while it's easy for us to sit here and say "Well f*ck them. They should be doing better" the reality is it's not that simple is it.

There's few things worse in a club than senior pros on long deals mooching about the place with the face on. They can quickly become a huge problem.

I'm not saying it's right . But it's true. It happens.

Given the way that things are at the minute. Is it worth upsetting the apple cart any more than necessary

  • Fletcher - International. Big wages. Brought in as big name.
  • Hooper- £3m signing. Big wages. Huge player for us this year.
  • Rhodes - £5m -£10m depending on source.
  • Forestieri - £3.7m .  Big wages. Ahem, Latin temperament.

Just wondered other peoples thoughts on that?

SWFC youth haven't produced any decent player through the system for a long long time - circa 1960's. Jamie Vardy was let slip, which completely supports the historical systemic problem in our scouting - basically they not able to understand or grasp the 'talent down the line' vs braun / stamina / size and effectiveness at early ages.

Compared to other Cities, Liverpool, Newcastle, London, Birmingham, Manchester - SWFC talent brought through has been bordering on pathetic.

It shows there is a lack of intelligence in the scouting and further blighted by poor first team results - which never allows any manager to take any risks (therefore compounding the SWFC problem further - we are now fully wound up into the spiral effect of this)

The good news is, George Hirst is coming of age now and could be a decent player. Had his father not been who he is - he would be relatively unknown to people. My point is that at Everton or wherever he will be just another youth player.

BTW There are plenty of top top strikers who have one decent season in the Championship / Premier League then you don't ever hear about anymore.

It is a short term gamble to move away from SWFC - but a no risk long term decision if he stays.

His father didn't turn up for the Anniversary night - which should give you all the next steps they will take.........

Really not sure why fans on here think that guy who change traditional team colors despite wishes of the fans, made us laughing stock with squad numbers because he "believes" in numbers, and is ripping us off to watch club we love is moralist in this story over guy who gave so much to the club for over a decade, and time and time again proved his loyalty to SWFC ?!

He wanted to leave

Maybe it's something to do with the £60Million he's spent to improve the club, who knows

Thai silk, suggests they do know a bit about clothing. What country doesn't?

He doesn't have to know about shirt manufacturing, he can just employ someone that does - the same as shirt design, interior design, retail, corporate pricing etc - but he's paid his money and he wants to have a play at them all.

You're absolutely right - but of course once he's employed them based on their CV, he needs to allow them to do the job.

Who knows how it's structured and operating at the moment as a lot of the comments on here and elsewhere are hearsay and conjecture. Nevertheless the evidence in the planning, delivery and communication is pretty dreadful, so it's clearly it's not working.

The article is a brilliant example of how touch and go for young footballers, even those who deemed the cream of the crop as teenagers. When the article was done they will have been 28/29 and possibly shoukd have been at their peak yet Rooney and Routledge the only two that stand out.

Yep, the chances of becoming a 'top class' player are so remote that you wouldn't recommend anyone to follow it as a career.  Makes you wonder if its just down to natural ability, how much does having the drive and determination matter?

I'm sure that the vast majority of Rooney's squad had the determination to succeed but ability wise couldn't last the pace.

Nice to see a few of them still made a go if it in football to some degree.
