£10m? For Preston’s defensive midfielder?

He’s not really a defensive midfielder- more box to box. Premiership interest in him from Burnley and Palace. Young, under 23. Apparently were  quoted £15mil for him. They rate him more than Hugill (even though they obviously play very different positions).

Wolves 35m bid for Andre Silva rejected!? :carlosswfc:

Wolves are showing how to do it. Sod FFP , spend what you want on the right players knowing you will be out of the reach of the powers that be because you will be in the premier league.

Would be nice, but not convinced it'll happen. Although, Jos should be able to assess what he's got quick enough given so few fit bodies. Need a shot in the arm from somewhere. A new player or two would lift everybody a little.

The results these past few months should be enough for Jos and DC to realise we need signings asap.

In all fairness to Jo's he'll know a lot more about our deficiencies by 10 pm on Friday than he will have learned watching us play a mediocre pedestrian average League 2 standard team.

Cut him some slack till next week.

Not the fault of Jos, think there is a lack of urgency at the club as a whole, definitely on the pitch but off as well. We let Carlos drift for far too long, we have known for months that we are short of players and specific types of players in particular. Would be nice if the club had plans in place to recruit ready for January or that recruitment to plug essential and immediate gaps in the first team would  have been part of the discussions when Jos arrived and actioned asap.

Completely agree that Jos needs time, but at least give him a fighting chance, in what is now the only game of any meaning this season. Having to pick a team purely from the leftovers of Carlos' wee wee tail eyed recruitment strategy is a hiding to nothing.

I can't see us having too much to spend, so what few recruits Jos can come up with have to be the right ones, not panic buys like in the "Mammadov" window.

We'll just have to suck it up on Friday night.

Its a bit catch 22 situation for me, I’m sure we have got a list of potential targets drawn up but do you go and get those players in before Jos has a proper look at this squad and his say on where we need improvement, knowing money is tight and the new manager might not fancy them after all?

Wierd. We've spent the last twelve months lambasting the club for signing players not the coach. We put in a manager rather than a coach, everyone cheers. Now we can't understand why the club hasn't got players sorted for him! Only on owlstalk

Well if Carlos drew up the list I'd scrap it. He didn't solve any of the apparent needs over the last 3 windows. I also think Jos might well be looking for a different type of player in terms of physicality and mentality than Carlos seemed to acquire, or is that wishful thinking? Get in a few solid loan players, German or otherwise, and do the real spending in the summer when he can get rid of a few.

The Blunts could have a brand new midfield set-up come Friday night...........

Lee Evans is set to complete his move from Wolves to Sheffield United, according to reports.

Respected website Football Insider says the Bramall Lane outfit have agreed a £750,000 fee and expect to complete the deal in the next 24 hours.

Pete O’Rourke says Evans has agreed personal terms and passed a medical meaning the official announcement is all that remains.

Football Insider say Evans is set to sign a three-and-a-half year deal and could make his debut in Friday’s derby with Sheffield Wednesday
