Hirst has the got the makings of a very good player but he’s 24 in a few months and if I were his agent I’d be telling him he needs to be the main man somewhere. He’d be behind Windass, Gregory and Smith here.

Have to agree,  Hirst plays down the middle

No way DM will bring him in,  we need Wilks and think we’ll get him

Lincoln City are hoping to sign Sunderland winger Jack Diamond on loan, D3D4 Football understands.

The Imps have been pursuing the wideman but face competition from fellow third-tier outfit, Fleetwood Town.

Sunderland are keen to allow Diamond to head back out on loan with Harrogate chasing the player on a permanent deal earlier this summer following an impressive spell with the Yorkshire club. The two sides could not agree a fee, with the Black Cats demands too rich for Simon Weaver’s Town.

This has opened up a potential loan move and Fleetwood have been trying to reach an agreement to bring the 22-year-old to Highbury. Scott Brown is keen to increase his attacking options before the transfer window closes and see Diamond as an excellent player to fit his 4-3-3 attacking style.

Suggestion or ITK? Good player with bags of potential, he’s a right back though so would assume he would provide Hunt competition while Palmer covers centre back injuries.

Which is sensible and a different approach if we can't get the right centre back in, especially with Palmer's recent performances

Seems like he can play centre back and left back too.  So maybe Moore sees him as an option for the right or left sided centre back.  But the player has said he is looking for a championship challenge so probably nothing in this one

Diamond scored 14 goals from the wing on loan at Harrogate last season.

Looked the best of the Sunderland team that played at Hillsborough last week and that included Patrick Roberts.

I'd love to have him at Hillsborough on loan.

Think he looked quality last week n defo last season in pizza cup
