Yes I know

More stringent stewarding might have prevented the actions of said fans...

It shouldn’t really be up to a few stewards  on minimum wage, (who are probably just trying to earn a few extra quid ) to stop supporters coming onto the field of play,  it should be the responsibility of the supported to remain in the stand.

It was what it was though, and as others have said, it just needs a line drawing under it and not becoming the new regular thing.

No, what's totally hysterical is a bunch of grown-ups running onto the pitch because we scored a second goal against bottom-of-the-table Crewe in a move that risks a fine for the club they support or worse a banning of fellow away fans for future games that they may want to attend. That's almost literally hysteria, by definition of the chuffing word.

That’s what football is all about; the euphoria or hysteria of scoring a goal. Look at Bannan’s celebration or Forestieri at Forest.
We used to go crazy at the back of the kop back in the 80s and was physically knackered after celebrating away at Chelsea and West Brom.

On the face of it, it seems like a over-reaction to a mini pitch invasion.

But the cluib have to be 'seen' to be doing the right thing if nothing else.

No-one one was hurt as far as I know, but the concern is next time we get an incident like when that cockwomble from Leeds ran on the pitch & punched Chris Kirkland.

Apparently, according to some on here - pitch invasions are a minor event and should be brushed under the carpet.

Thankfully however, MOST people on this forum have common sense.   Bar a few.

Isolated incident in the stand away from play, ref obviously thought someone had collapsed. Soft toys? Come on man christ, hardly as if there’s been house bricks launched on the pitch.

I'm on your side genuinely but as I said each incident "building a case".

There were a load of young lads [ 16 to about 20 year olds ish] yesterday round us, larkin about having a laugh, all over the floor when we scored generally dicking about enjoying a reyt good away day, I want to see more yunguns at away games like yesterday but my fear is IF the EFL are looking to "calm" things down we're giving them a lot of ammo at the moment.

Won’t happen.

Even if it did, yes I’d still feel that the only people moaning about this are snowflakes and kill joys.

A few fans get carried away celebrating a goal and suddenly all the miserable old so and so’s are acting like they’ve been smashing up stadiums.lol

So to be clear, IF we receive sanctions. You’ll happily defend the pitch invaders. Good to know.

But that's the point. Instead of celebrating with their own team, what if one tool decides to lamp an opposition player instead?
Like the Leeds 2hat that decked Kirkland after they scored?

The police & stewards have no idea if it's a 'good natured' pitch invasion or not. And what starts out as 'good natured' could turn nasty.

Celebrate goals like a loon by all means, but keep off the pitch. It's not hard. And you'll only make things potentially awkward for yourself & the club.
No-one on here will thnak you if we end up with a fine/tickel allocation restriction/docked points as a result.

Your post comes across as a sad tbh...did you go yday? Wednesday fans wer in a joyous mood all day..nobody was ever goin to run on and chin a Crewe player..ever

Couldn't get a tciket...went to Portsmouth instead as had a work related excuse to be down there anyway.

The Sunderland standing thing is odd, but persistent standing is far less of a problem than pitch invasions. Can't ever recall being asked to sit down at away matches, but have seen others get singled out.
As for 'joyous moods', that is irrelevant. It only takes one arse to overstep the mark. It didn't happen yesterday thankfully, but in future who knows?

Merry Xmas to you 🙂
