IF we go up, do we have the quality to stay up?

Why continually use examples of failure? Both Rotherham and Barnsley bounced back straight away twice in Rotherham’s case, three times consecutively if they achieve it this season. This League can be MADE a slog to get out of. Just excuses all the time

Probably because Ipswich and Sunderland are similar clubs to us and we share a lot in common.

Yes, comfortably

We had enough to stay up last season and I think we’ve got a better squad this season

Would need a keeper and left back though

Yet we haven't even been in the promotion race until the last couple of games and now suddenly we would comfortably survive in the Championship?

I Think we need to walk before we run.

I look at the teams that consistently yo-yo between L1 and the Championship. Both Wycombe and Rotherham are having great seasons in league one this season, yet last season in the championship they were terrible and my thinking is they'll struggle in the league above as usual.

It got me thinking, if we get promoted do we have what it takes to stay up?

Personally, I think we'd need to have a very good transfer window to stand a chance.

What do you guys think?

I don't think its something we will need to worry about for a while

Gotta plan for the future my friend.

Chansiri should be thinking about the possibility of this. Evaluate our finances to ensure we remain sustainable and don't get another deduction etc.

From a fan perspective sure, it's early. But as a business you need to be planning for every eventuality.

Chansiri actually thinking. Are you serious.

Couple of things, firstly I think questions like this are a bit strange as we're not even in the top 6 at the moment. I'm all for optimism but it's probably a better question to ask later in the season when/if we do look like going up.

I also don't agree that either Wycombe or Rotherham were terrible last season, Wycombe lost their first 7 games but then actually put together a very competent Championship season and what was probably the lowest budget ever to compete in the Championship. They were basically one win away from staying up, if Derby had been punished correctly they would be playing Championship football this season anyway. It will always be tough for a club of that size to remain in the Championship, Burton managed 2 seasons, that wasn't given the credit for how big an achievement it was in my opinion.

Rotherham also if we're being honest were f*cked with Covid, games that could have been played at times (their Coventry fixture not being moved to the international break for example) weren't yet we all know if it was a bigger club they probably would have done. They also have a structure in place and have given the manager time to build something, again they were only a win away from staying up.

It's impossible to say what will happen in 6/7 months time, I never thought we'd sign 14 players in the summer, the advantage we'd have over the likes of Wycombe and Rotherham is the size of club still seems to be a selling point. Josh Windass eluded to it in his interview last week that playing for a big club with lots of pressure is something that attracted him and made him want to stay, I don't think he'll be alone in that. That combined with the momentum you'd hope we'd have should give us a damn good chance of staying up, we did it in 2013 and I personally think this current squad is as good as that one that survived in the division above.

DCs planning for the future is what landed us in the sh1 t were in now so I have little faith in that. As a fan I don't expect anything as that's the way it is as an Owl and then you don't get disappointed.

Let's just concentrate on trying to get up and worry about the Championship when we get there.

sadly no I don’t think we have…the defence is conceding goals in this league and even with injured players back I don’t see this changing to be honest.

Let’s be honest we wouldn’t be shipping these goals if we had a back 3 of Iorfa Hutchinson and Dunkley.

Losing those 2 out of it to injury is massive

Sure, why not. The squad last year was  good enough, if only just and this years is better - fewer weak links where there are no good options and some actual depth, so injuries to the best players while still severely weakening the side don’t leave them effectively playing with 10 me
