IF we go up, do we have the quality to stay up?

Let’s be honest we wouldn’t be shipping these goals if we had a back 3 of Iorfa Hutchinson and Dunkley.

Losing those 2 out of it to injury is massive

Are you sure about that?? We’ve conceded for the majority of the season and iorfa was poor for quite a few games before he got injured.

This exact squad would probably stay up this season in the Championship, next year who knows all a year older legs start to go etc.

If we go up and Luongo stays, and the loans are suitably replaced then yes we stand a good chance and all depends on how many teams get points deductions next season quite a few must be close to FFP penalties, Middlesbrough, Stoke and Forest fir example.

Why continually use examples of failure? Both Rotherham and Barnsley bounced back straight away twice in Rotherham’s case, three times consecutively if they achieve it this season. This League can be MADE a slog to get out of. Just excuses all the time

Aye fair point

it’s hardly confirmation bias though is it?  Some teams do well some teams don’t, but that’s just ‘football’ in general

A back 3 with Paterson/Brennan or Johnson/Palmer doesn’t compare to Iorfa and Hutchinson though does it. And that’s not a reflection on those players because they’ve done a decent job either out of position or as a youngster.

How many times have we had Hutch Dunkley and Iorfa at the back? Let alone with Luongo back in front of it

i agree 100% that it doesn’t compare and credit to the make shift defence we have still managed to pick up points…however my point is hutch, dunkley and iorfa have played in the same team at the start of the season in various combinations and still conceded goals. We have averaged a goal a game at present…that’s even with the missing players in the side.

if we are averaging a goal a game in L1, I don’t see how this would improve at an higher level.

We've gotta get up first, jesus.

Got a winter coming up which could be full of injury/covid related setbacks - we need some defensive cover and a forward in, and I think we'll be there or thereabouts.

2/3 players needed max - ship out Sow, Berahino + Wing if we can.
