Wildsmith

Recommended Posts

Harsh to blame him for the first, but the second is just woeful and it kills us. Can only assume at this point that the management team trust wildsmith to play short from the back more than they do Westwood, but either way come the end of the season we need to use some of the Westwood money to get a decent keeper in (on loan.)

He looked really good in 2015/16 but he’s never kicked on. For every good save there are seemingly soft things just getting away from him. It makes a huge difference having someone who can keep the ball out the net on a regular basis, just as much as a striker sticking it in the net.

This isn’t just about qpr today, it’s ongoing.

No he didn’t, he was poo back then too.

Exactly the same as these days - capable of half decent performances, great agility but awful on the floor, awful off his line and prone to errors

The problem he has is that he's scared to venture more than 2 yards off his line. Means not only is his positioning poor from crossing positions but means the defence drops deeper and deeper into the 6 yard box. A really port keeper on position alone.

I won't go into other areas that he's not great on as that alone is enough reason to be dropping him for the remainder of the season nevermind next

Apart from the last two or three years (oh and Ola Tidman) Wednesdayites have very rarely had to debate goalkeepers

Despite seeing some poor sides over the years Goalkeeper is one area we have consistently excelled in whether they be permanent goalkeepers or loans

The more he's grown his hair like an Estonian restaurant waiter, the worse his goalkeeping has got.

Really need to hit reset on this squad asap! Two new goalkeepers is a necessity.

Not sure how long Wildsmith got on his contract but flog him and dawson would be decent back up in league 1 if we can get someone else in

I expect that DM will want two new goalkeepers in the summer.

Hopefully we will see the back of Wildsmith and Dawson. Both are League 2 goalkeepers at best and that is being generous.

Wildsmith worse than Dawson.

Niether are good at organising their defences but at least dawson is capable of making saves when called upon

Poor footwork for the 1st

Poor positioning for 3rd

Poor decisiveness for the 4th

Abysmal standard for a professional goalkeeper, always has been always will be.

Can’t believe he was picked today tbh

Agreed

6 shots on target Wildsmith conceded 4 so a shot stop ratio of 33%.

No exactly world class is it. He was awful today. But Reach offered little going forward and the back 3 just does not work we need wing backs who can tackle, defend and get up and down the pitch this is not Palmer and definitely not Reach.

Don't play a formation you dont have the players for.

Well done widass, Well done Rhodes look a threat with the little service they got the rest of the players were  5 and 6 out of 10 which is simply not good enough.

But this is why we are 2 bottom only once all season have we won two games on the trot and 16 games out of 16 when conceding the first goal we have lost.

It doesn't matter what level they play at a goalkeeper has to be able to make saves otherwise what is the point, how him and Dawson have made it professional ahead of 1000s of others is anybody's guess and unfortunately we'll be stuck with them for years.
