Depends on money though doesn’t it. He’s only fit for half the games so we’d need another competent keeper to play the other half. A league 1 number one is probably worth about 5k a week so he’s worth half that to us.. 2.5k a week. If he’d sign for that then it’s a no brainier but he’d likely turn it down. Sova
Sadly, Wildsmith has one of the worst save percentages in the division this season, compared to other regular goalkeepers. Not only that, he's miles behind the next-worst in the list: https://fbref.com/en/comps/10/keepers/Championship-Stats#all_stats_keeper

Not to mention you will happily keep a player who you have just said yourself is only for for half the games. What next an A team and a B team one can play one week and one can play the next week? Unfortunately that's not much different from what we've had for the majority of the past 3 years with Jos & Monk failing to determine which is the number 1 and swapping them every so often when the errors get too much to take. As for being available half the games, how often has the younger and supposedly fitter Dawson been available this season?

There’s a massive difference between a keeper who gets one bad injury that needs surgery and keeps him out for the season and another that breaks down time and time again in warm ups abs games. But you know that

I've been a big advocate for Westwood coming back as he's clearly the best keeper on the books at the moment... There's absolutely no way on earth we should be offering him a new contract though given his age and injury record this season.

Brad_owl
If Wildsmith or Dawson play another second of this season then the 12% chance of staying up goes to 0%. Both of those players have hugely contributed to the car crash this season has been. If Westwood had played more games we wouldn't be here now. A good goalkeeper is worth 10 - 15 points a season.

Seems my memory wasn't far off, although I did forget Westwood played at Millwall. And our results over those games played by the three of them in the last 2 seasons Wildsmith P28 W5 D6 L17 Westwood P28 W10 D7 L11 Dawson P32 W11* D8 L13 * one win he is credited with is at Reading first game of last season when he came on for the last 10 mins after KW was sent off. So our record with KW and CD playing is fairly similar. But significantly worse when JW plays. What is clear is we need a new experienced No.1 next season, with Dawson as back up. I like how both the number two keepers have hugely contributed to this "car crash" season yet the Number 1 keeper that can't even get through a warm up because hes got a bad groin/shoulder/undiagnosed broken rib is still held as a saviour of what could have/should have been. Ridiculous. We have played 29 games since KW was brought back from his supposed exile so plenty of time for us to turn around this "car crash season" yet our results havnt improved so holding Westwood up as some kind of saviour is absolute balls.

Wonder how injury prone he will be by the time he is as old as Westwood currently is. Wildsmith's save percentage compared to every other goalkeeper in the Championship doesn't make good reading. Any excuse for that?
