Well no guarantees of course, but at least they haven’t sat idly by We knew what we needed in this window, certainly more than QPR, and we have 5 days to deliver. Three top signings, to add to the shrewd signings of Hutchinson and Green, would still give us hope of avoiding the drop
Bigger Guns
Why are people saying Austin and johansen are the type of signings we should be making? Both over 30, past their best and on big money. Sounds familiar and it’s what got us in this mess we currently find ourselves in. Madness.

Guest wilyfox
QPR signed some good strikers. Their problem is lack of creativity after selling Eze and now Osayi-Samuel. Johansen an important signing for them. They need him to pull strings in midfield and unlock defences for Austin, Dykes, and Bonne to profit. Couldn't agree more, last time I saw Johansen play he could have done with a zimmer frame to help him get around the pitch.

He was their key player and everything good creativity went through him. Can't see them finishing any higher that they are currently

I’d rather we signed Green and hopefully the likes of Pickering and Cosgrove who are under 25 with room to improve/increase in value.
Jim
I think we have to have a short term view in the sense we need experienced players that can hit the ground running to help us stay up. The likes of Austin and Johansen would have helped in that respect. If we can maintain our championship status then the summer is the time to start a new project, that’s why I think Thompson is likely to get the gig for the rest of the season? He's lacked game time, mainly because of the form of Lowe and Ayew, and has been sent on loan to Coventry for the remainder of the season. If we're after a mobile, physical centre forward that can link play and run the line, then he's probably one of the best, more affordable options around. It'll be interesting to see how he does for the rest of the campaign, because he's a player I think could have a very good career.

s6 owl
Signing Pickering made far too much sense for us so it's no surprise the he's off elsewhere.

Guest wilyfox
Yes, sounds like Pickering to Blackburn more likely than Wednesday. No surprise there. Preston have just re-signed Cunningham from Cardiff, another we were linked with. Going well innit..
