SAG/SYP: Get a grip

Recommended Posts

Chippy puns aside, we walked over the south stand bridge and turned right to get to the north stand entrances last night. There were a fair few Everton fans who were doing the same only turning left to get to the lepp end. They were turned back and made to go all the way round. We also saw some who were stopped at the penistone road end of the car park and directed back round Parkside Road. Is there really a block on away fans getting to their end from under the south stand? These segregation rules don't seem to make any sense from a customer convenience point of view. And don't get me started on how a section of society can be treated the way football fans are. Our ground is becoming a joke that's not all that funny.

Memories of the horror of last night will live with me for a long time.

I thought that the authorities had it sorted. No away drinking nearer than Stockport. No pay turnstiles. Close half the entrances and exits. I thought I could undertake the deadly peril of a last 32 league game against Everton protected by competent caring authorities.

Not so.

I can hardly bring myself to write this. I got to S6 early and went for some fish and chips.

There were Everton fans in the chip shop queue. Freely mingling. Even talking to our fans. Not a copper in sight, let along the horses, riot shields, and tasers we needed.

Fans mixing. In a chip shop.

I left before it all kicked off. I imagine the burns unit at the Northern is rammed today.

There can be no justification at all for risking the serving of hot food in unsegregated areas within 100 miles of Hillsborough in the 48 hours before and after a home game.

When oh when will they get a grip?

Bit like our politicians, no idea about f all and making a right wee wee tail up of everything,

Just get in line and file a report over at EFL HQ, they seem to jump on every opportunity to get on Wednesday's back these days. Might get your case through in the priority queue even ;)

(well aware the sarcasm :P)

Interestingly the saints fans were held in the ground for 30 mins after the game. Do they have different laws on the south coast to up north?

No just a police force with common sense v2.2 installed.

I was at the ground at 6:30 on leppings lane and I was wanting to go down to the Wednesday tap. I was told by some jobsworth to turn back and go right around and over the bridge to access the south stand. Completely bonkers.

Just ignore them they have no authority over you except that that you allow them

All joking aside, it took my daughter 45 mins to get from opposite Owlerton Casino, along Penistone Rd and up Parkside Road to the end of Catch Bar Lane on Saturday. She was nowhere near the ground , was travelling from the Shitty Centre to pick me up  after the match , and the A61 Northbound was completely gridlocked!

So much  for some crappy Mancunian's idea of SAFETY. And that was with a 23k crowd.
