@owlstalk
Just over two weeks ago, the Owls produced two show-stopping events to mark the club’s 150th anniversary in style. Owls in the Park 2017- culminating in a fantastic firework display - took place on Sunday 3 September, before our anniversary dinner with an array of club legends unfolded 24 hours later on the exact date of Wednesday’s formation all those years ago. Now, for this weekend’s Steel City derby, Sheffield Wednesday in association with publishing partners ProgrammeMaster, will have on sale THE biggest matchday programme EVER produced by a football club. Indeed, the Owls v Blades edition of ‘Wednesday’ will contain no less than 150 PAGES, with a huge insert dedicated to the history of SWFC. Not only that, this stunning commemorative copy has a unique three-way gatefold sleeve cover, which opens out to showcase the Sheffield Wednesday Dream Scene. In addition, get this - FREE inside will be Wednesday’s first ever programme in its entirety, which was produced on 1 September 1900 when the reserve side hosted Gainsborough Trinity at Hillsborough. Throughout this incredible edition, we have on board a string of Owls historians and their fact-filled contributions and articles - charting the club’s existence from 1867 at the Adelphi Hotel right up to the present day - make this programme a must-have 150th souvenir for Wednesdayites of all ages. We also have an exclusive column with the very latest thoughts of Wednesday chairman Dejphon Chansiri and, amongst many other things, a feature interview with Mick Pickering – skipper of the Owls side of THAT game on Boxing Day 1979. All this and much, much more, illustrated with stunning photography, is crammed into 150 pages of ‘Wednesday’ this Sunday – and all for just £5. If you are not in attendance, worry not – ProgrammeMaster are taking pre-orders right now – CLICK HERE to book your copy. If you are attending the derby, the commemorative programme will be on sale all around the ground and in the Owls Megastore. Sheffield Wednesday’s director of communications Trevor Braithwait said: “Producing a 150-page programme, that contains just 11 pages of advertising, the lowest ever, was a monumental task but a challenge to which the whole team rose – both at the club and ProgrammeMaster. “Our historians have provided an incredible amount of premium content and we are proud to say this edition will be the biggest programme the football world has ever seen. “We pride ourselves of offering supporters the very best in terms of our matchday programme production but this goes to another level…this is a book and a fantastic keepsake of the club’s iconic 150th year. “Our fans always embrace the commemorative issues we have produced in recent years and I can assure everyone, from collectors to regulars and occasional buyers alike – this programme is quite simply not to be missed." Salmonbones
A bit of forward thinking. I hope the margin on that is very good, it should be a good seller. 6 years the pigs have been waiting, they will buy it even though through gritted teeth. I think we'll actually sell more than for a standard programme, so the added price should make for a bit of added revenue.
