dewsburyowl58
Will there be an improvement with the catering because it takes an age to get served as it is , so if I find my seat , nip to the toilet come back and my seat is taken !! .I think season ticket holders pay for the privilege of the same seat don't they ? Guest mkowl
Still sort of relevant 10 years on though The solution of course is to remove the seats
james o connor
Should happen at away days for sure . The over bottom need to find the correct seat just leads to caranage at 2.55 when all the wee weed up people are stumbling in
Inspector Lestrade
Nice idea but can't see it working practically. When it's a big crowd you would have to many fans wandering about looking for spare seats or two or three seats together. That didn't matter on the old kop as you could stand literally anywhere. You just manoeuvred your way into a gap if need be. I can see a few H&S issues being raised When I used to stand on the kop there could be up twenty of us stood a few rows down from the top right hand corner. You coukd stand and talk to who ever you wanted and easily swap places. But I do prefer to sit having said that. Sadly it's a no from me.
Mystic Neg
I like it but there will be plenty whove had the same seat for years and will hate it. Plus if weve got any German owls they'll spoil it for everyone by getting to the best seats before sunrise.
Buxtongent
It's an idea that could only work in an area which does not already have season tickets. Many ST holders, and don't forget there are far more of us than non-ST's, have become used to being in regular seats, and have already done the same as we did in the standing days, made friends with those people around us. I used to stand in one spot on the old Leppings Lane, and was almost invariably joined by the same group of people, who quickly became friends. Now I am no longer as mobile as I was, have found myself what I consider a good seat which I know is 'mine', and have made friends with those around me.. I have no desire to go around finding friends, they're there beside me. It works! For instance, because of health, I have missed the first two games this season, and would have been unable to get anyway because of transport. On Thursday, I got a call from my 'match next-door neighbour' asking if I was OK, had I rebooked my seat, and telling me that they would 'pick me up' to get to the match if necessary (He's from Dore, I'm in Buxton) We never see each other than at the game, but that's the Wednesday way. I'm sure by now that enough time has passed for people to have sorted out their seats.
j17tjp
should they still be called 'stands' if it's for sitting ??
HOOTIE AND THE SHIT TU
On 12/5/2007 at 14:25, @owlstalk said: SIT ANYWHERE STAND Here's how it works You designate a stand as a 'sit anywhere' stand I would ideally do this on the kop and north stand Season tickets sold are simply swipe cards to get you into the stand - then you can sit anywhere (your season ticket would get you reduced prices and a free home shirt if the other 'free home shirt' idea was adopted) Tickets sold on the day would be again just to allow you into that stand - you walk into the stand and sit where you like Benefits: 1) Less costs for stewarding 2) Fans arrive earlier to get their seats - thus increasing turnover of the merchandise/food/programme/draw tickets 3) A massively increased atmosphere due to fans being able to sit with their mates (increasing their willingness to sing/shout/make noise) 4) Occasional fans can still sit with season ticket holders 5) Less ticket office issues 6) Increased attendance as occasional fans would be attracted to the games to sit with more regular fans they know Sit anywhere stands would probably only benefit the people who want to sit with their mates, like the River Island Crew, these guys wouldn't be seen dead wearing a Wednesday shirt, perhaps if the offer included a voucher code to spend at their favourite retailer instead. Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife.
horny owl
Not being able to go to the match and quarantee being with your mates is the biggest problem besides being forced to sit down of course. Its why atmospheres at home games around the country are so sterile these days because people who want to create an atmosphere are scattered around the stadium rather than being congregated in one place. This is why out of the few games I make it to these days the majority of them are away days
Guest Grez Bez
Great idea. Would be tough when it's full though! You could put a sensor in each seat and link to an app to show which seats are free.

oldtawnyowl
Relegate away fans to lower West Stand. Upper West becomes "sit anywhere" stand for us. Doesn't upset any existing ST holders. Sorted
RUMBELOWS91
A better idea would be to give out consecutive tickets on the turnstiles to everyone, including season ticket holders who could just scan their ST in exchange for a matchday ticket. That way you can still sit with anyone who wants to pay on the day, but everyone has a designated seat so reyt hard gets like DaveyBoy won't have an excuse to throw their handbags around.
