Think the points deductions, embargo's and unpaid wages had a far greater effect on the results than the manager could influence. Said it before thought Monk was correct in his sidelining of players like Hutchinson and Westwood. The problem with sidelining Hutchinson and Westwood was we ended up with Pelupessy and Dawson in the team, two players no where near good enough for the Championship.
Athelwulf
Barring the arrival of some new players, nothing could have kept us up last season IMO. My initial point was that we'd have been better off keeping Monk and having him at the helm now, rather than Moore. The thread is really about this season, not last.
mcmigo
Monk knew the problems the team had, but did not have the players or money to correct them. Pulis was a worse version of monk and also knew the issues we had on the field. amazingly despite a summer where we transformed the squad we have yet again made the exact same mistake and not signed a quick energetic central forward player or 2 so teams use the exact same tactics against us as they did last season . Kopparberg
Last season was a car crash management wise… yet it’s worth remembering that it was Chansiri who took us down. No one would have wanted Monk still to be here if it was him who’d drawn to Derby.…. Monks face never did fit. Guessing who’d do better with this squad is an easy one to some people - some would say ‘anyone’

I don't know if Moore can paint, but he certainly can't manage.

Unfortunately he couldn't address the slide after xmas when Fletch got injured. Monk is a weak manager He goes into clubs picks out the big characters in the dressing room, in our case Westwood and Hutch, and alienates them to the detriment of the team believing this makes him look strong when in reality its just the opposite The clues in the name "Manager" You manage big characters and get the best from them or rather a good manager does Monk should never get a job again imo
Blatter
The past is gone. Nothing to be done about it now. Concentrate on the here and now. It’s match day. Support the team because I just can’t see Chansiri making any managerial change right now.
Supersiggi2
Two points A) one reason and one reason only we went down - points deduction B) for those saying Monk was right to freeze out Hutchinson and Westwood - please explain. What are you basing this on?
Screen Door Slams
Not this AGAIN !!!!.....................sacking Monk wasn`t the problem , replacing him with the most defensive manager ever was.

Wed have stood a far better chance of survival under Monk Yeah I used to love Monk’s tactic of putting Iorfa or Flint up top for every goal kick we had. Meaning our defence was out of position for every goal kick, also meaning our midfield was out of position too covering for the defender we pushed up front to not win the header, when in fact it would have been much better to let Patterson try and win the header.

CourteenerOwl
Monk clearly struggled to manage Westwood and Huthcinson and instead of doing that he brushed the problem under the carpet and at the same time ruined our chances of promotion. All he had to do there is manage the both of them and he would have had the respect of the dressing room. Instead, and this is me guessing, he decides to banish two of our better players. He was trying to show them whose boss but in my opinion he lost the dressing room at this exact moment. The players won't and don't respect managers who banish players and then play players who are far weaker instead of them. Then there was his decision to play Fletcher in a meaningless cup game - that was the final nail in the coffin. FF at left wing back and also refusing to play him most of the season. Our managers are like our players. We never replace our managers with a better one. It's laughable with some of the dreadful managers we have, that we seem to do the impossible and appoint an even worse one. Moore is that bad that I agree with the original point that I would rather have Monk in charge this season. That says it all. Jos, Monk, Moore. Three of the most pathetic managerial appointments. When we finally get a manager to turn us around and do the simple things well, no one will pine for any of those charlatans. catdog1121
With Monk's recruitment and tactics we would be bottom of the table.. There is a reason he has not had a managerial role since he left us about a year ago... Its because he is rubbish and after the mess he caused here which we are still recovering from he is considered toxic.. In summary a big fat NO.....
Guest Tactical Bacon
Monk only got a good start because he was carrying on from where Bruce left off. Soon that ended and so did our form. Awful man manager who divided our dressing room. We also played awful football under him. I would far rather have Carlos back.

Can never get my head around why decent and well paid players getting frozen out of the squad to the detriment of the club. Whether they say something out of turn, or it's a 'personality clash' or they didn't turn up at training, it doesn't matter. My point would be that it's the managers job to manage their players, and to sort things like this out, it's not a football thing it's simple people management. So I see it simply as someone failing to fulfill a role that their job requires, and they should be held responsible.

We are in 8th place, on a decent unbeaten run in the league, with a positive goal difference. I know some people hoped and expected more, but words like "wreckage" and "disastrous" bear no comparison to our actual position. 10 hours ago, Athelwulf said: I was one who wanted Monk out and Pulis in, and with the benefit of hindsight it was wrong.
