Popular Post Lord Snooty
"It's really starting to look rather desperate isn't it ,Sir?" "What is?" "The search for a win. Pulis must be under some pressure." "Are you mad? He's under no pressure at all. He's barely in the door" "That means nothing in football today ,Sir, as I'm sure you know. Managers can get the sack quite quickly if they don't get results. Especially ones that weren't popular in the first place." "How do you mean, not popular? Whens popularity had anything to do with it?" "I'm merely saying ,Sir he wasn't an appointment that seemed send the support into a frenzy. I mean most groaned because he's a bit , well, he's a bit old fashioned." "Old fashioned?" "Well... basic." "Basic? Basic? We need bloody basic! Basic things like playing lefties on the left! Basic things like not conceding in the 97th minute every other bloody week Stubbs. I'll take basic! Remember this?!" "Yes, but I mean, he's not very progressive is he?" "Not progressive? He's the only manager I know that has a triple substitution plan up his sleeve in case of a sending off." "No, but what I mean is ,Sir. He's not someone who's going to revolutionise the game" "Revolutionise the game? What are you on about? We're in a dog fight. And this chap has done something even Bruce didn't do. He taught them a new trick. Not being soft as poo when you're up against it mentally. " "But it's this hoof and hope, it's not the aesthetic , sophisticated game, enlightened game that your modern day manager...." "Stubbs, are you on glue?" "Sir?" "I've never heard such drivel. We've got a side languishing near the foot. A forward line with all the get up and go of crushed fig and players who have struggled to stick two passes together against Wycombe and Rotherham in recent weeks and you're blathering about modernity and bloody aesthetics? I want to know what you're on." "I'm not on anything ,Sir. Though I did have a quick pint tonight" "Quick pint? Where? There's a bloody lockdown!" "Last night free for all at the Navvies, Sir." "Oh. Oh get it. You've been talking to that Ted character haven't you?" "I did have a quick word with him." "I bloody knew it!" "But Sir, he says Pulis isn't doing well at all. He thinks we should have gone for a younger sophisticated manager, who knows about the changing tactical world and younger players and.." "Ahh, like Hurst you mean? He was flavour of the month wasn't he for a while, the latest young progressive. Same wavelength as the younger more technical players. Yes..... Ipswich were in like a flash when the fans tired of the old school, basic manager. How did that work out for them?" "The thing is though, it's another draw though, Sir. Not good enough really" "Indeed Stubbs it isn't ,and the manager has been saying as much. But it's another draw, with ten men by the way, where once certain defeat would have beckoned. But let me tell you something Stubbs , and you can tell your chum Ted this. That draw against Reading, high flying, free scoring Reading that we just secured with ten men, has just given us our longest undefeated streak since last Christmas. Nearly a calendar year. Now just let that sink in." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- NORWICH CITY VS SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY Sky Bet Championship. Saturday 5th December 2020. Kick off 3:00pm Carrow Road. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- NORWICH CITY NEWS With their defeat at Kenilworth Road in the week, and Bournmouths win against the Dingles Norwich drop to second in the Championship table. Emiliano Buendia's penalty had pulled the Canaries level against Luton after The Hatter took an early lead, but ultimately they lacked intensity and urgency and were deservedly beaten. Daniel Farke's side are in the midst of an injury crisis, and the game against the Hatters was the one that finally broke his squad, who have coped admirably in recent weeks. Farke (I'll never not be able to smirk like a schoolboy at that name) could only name a seven-man substitutes bench, five of whom were academy players. The East Anglian outfit have only lost once at home this season, and will welcome supporters to the stadium on Saturday for the first time since February. Even if Daniel Farke wanted to make changes following Norwich's midweek defeat, he has limited options available to him due to the club's lengthy injury list. Of those currently sidelined, Teemu Pukki is the only one expected to be back fit for Saturday, but that will be a huge boost in itself. Christoph Zimmermann and Mario Vrancic could come in to start, but other than that pair, Farke may turn to the academy after giving 18-year-old Tyrese Omotoye his debut against Luton. Norwich City possible : McGovern Aarons Hanley Gibson Sorensen Tettey Skipp Buendia Vrancic Martin Pukki ------------------------------------------------------ WEDNESDAY NEWS Wednesday have not won at Carrow Road since 2009 and Tony Pulis is still looking for his first win as Owls manager, with the draw against Reading keeping the club in the relegation zone and four points adrift of safety. Yet the Welshman could not have asked for much more against the Royals, as his team played the final hour of the game with 10 men following Liam Shaw's sending-off. It was a fifth red card in Wednesday's last nine games which is incredible really isn't it because we're one of the least nasty side around. Wednesday have scored just three times in their last nine games and only Wycombe Wanderers and Derby County have netted fewer in the whole division across the whole campaign so far. Pulis faces a dilemma in midfield with both Liam Shaw and Massimo Luongo suspended, and wee Barry Bannan a doubt after picking up a knock against Reading. This could lead to Callum Paterson dropping deeper, with Josh Windass – available again after his own suspension – then able to feature upfront where the manager has made it clear he wants someone who'll stretch the game. Wednesday possible : Wildsmith Palmer Lees Borner Van AKen Paterson Pelupessy Dele-Bashiru Harris Windass Reach ------------------------------------------------------- FORM GUIDE Norwich City : D-W-W-W-D-L Wednesday : W-D-L-D-D-D ---------------------------------------------------- AS IT STANDS.... ------------------------------------------------------------------ Edited December 4, 2020 by Lord Snooty 29
Morepork
We do need a win, at the same time I think Pulis has managed to get a fair bit of forward traction with the performances so far. Especially given the nature of the opposition and our injuries, we could have lost all these games easily...... I'd take another point and a battling performance. Rogerwyldesmullet
Even a defeat by two goals or less is fine by me - point would be dreamland. We are way behind we’re we were last time we played here - no striker crisis with Fletcher and FF up top. Joao and Bannan were on the bench! Good luck you blue and white wizaaaards.
Ronio
Well said Snoots. I read every word this time. The important bit in all that "That draw against Reading, high flying, free scoring Reading that we just secured with ten men, has just given us our longest undefeated streak since last Christmas". We are no longer in freefall, that is a given. We just need to get that win now. If we can keep 11 men on the pitch this time around, we will have a chance. Reckon we will come away with a much needed three points. 2-1 to Wednesday. UTO!!
offalyowl
Brilliant as always snoots and like you said I think the point against reading was a good point and I'd happily take another point here, obviously it would be better coming way with a win but for some reason I think we draw again Uto

Gresh
Pulis has made us hard to beat but we need to be more creative and hopefully score a few goals. Tough game today and I'd take another point.
Mystic Neg
I'm full of optimism, for the first time in a while I think we've got a boss who will demand nothing less than our players bleeding blue and white. Intensity without any more excitable rash challenges and we can take it to them. Despite Norwich's injury woes they will still be heavily fancied to win this and all the pressure will be on them to do that. Up and at 'em boys
Flat Owl
Thanks Snoots. We can see the beginnings of some stability and a togetherness. These games until the window will be a grind but confidence is returning. The effort will pay off and no pressure from me until we can add a bit of quality to the organisation, effort and determination that is emerging. COME ON WEDNESDAY.

quinnssweetshop
Can't see us getting much other than a possible penalty.... And can't see Rhodes taking it..... He'd run off the pitch crying how much he loves Norwich. But... You never know. UTO Come on Wednesday. 1

N0rtherner
Ahh, Saturday morning matchday threads are the best, thanks for another terrific one, Snoots! Agree with the sobering points, we're not about becoming exciting just yet, TP is making sure we're stabilising again, ironing out previous kinks with late conceding and being, well, shambolic. Who would've thought, based on that we'd have 2 pts after Swansea and Reading. Another tough test tonight, but hopefully we can keep up the good work and hit them on the counter. Worried what will happen with Bannan and midfield in both Luongo and Shaw's absence, we've been much more in control when Bannan had a partner there. And Pelupessy is not the replacement piece to that puzzle. Anyhow, it's matchday and I'm excited again! Up the Owls!!

Holmowl
You’ve got to consider every game as a one-off. At 3pm its irrelevant that we’ve not won for a while. A draw today against a team who were playing in the Premier League a few months ago would be a fantastic outcome; a point would be another important step in our recovery. Im fascinated to see the Xl, but unlike pre-Pulis I don’t dread seeing the team-sheet. It will make complete sense and it will have a thoroughness and logic behind it. Id say 60% chance we lose, 35% we get an excellent draw, 5% we get a brilliant win. ifollow game paid for. Really looking forward to it.
Paul..
There'll be 2,000 Norwich fans in the stadium for the first time in months I believe? Be interesting how positively it affects them and how negatively it affects us, or vice versa.
