Southowl
Nuhiu was the match winner with an assist and goal. But Borner MOM for me. The man is different gravy.

savi
Went for Urhoghide, he got caught out a couple of times in that 1st half but seemed to cope extremely well. Young lad, 2nd game, 1st v a Premiership side & 2nd v the table top team. Ran his legs off, so far he looks like a real find.
lanzaroteowl
Bannan. He was all over the park again. Some great balls and some great defensive tackles.

A very tough one today. I think I'm going to let it sink in for an hour and have to have a very good think before todays vote and scores! Nice when its a tough decision for all the right reasons. Popular Post frastheowl
Dawson - 8 - Made a superb save to deny Harrison in the 1st half, along with a couple of other regulation saves. His handling was flawless throughout. Came and claimed a number of crosses to relieve pressure. Urhoghide - 8 - An even better performance than Brighton in my opinion, up against, in my opinion, the most underrated player in the legaue, in Jack Harrison. He's positive and looks to engage, which will leave him out of position on occasions. But, he won a lot of tackles, and looked to have an impact going forward, carrying the ball a long way a number of times. He's got that clumsy style of play that'll always make fans uncomfortable, (like Reda did, like Iorfa does at times) but he looks every bit a solid defender. Iorfa - 9 - A rock. He and Borner were magnificent. Given the amount of possession Leeds had, and the few chances they created, you have to defend well, win your battles and do the dirty bits well. And Big Dom did. Caught in possession in the 1st half, otherwise, looked composed. Borner - 9 - Man of the Match - Just edges Iorfa out of the MotM, because of his coolness and willingness to be brave and step in midfield, even when things were tight and fraught. Made a number of key tackles and clearances. Without doubt, these two are our 1st choice centre halves. They both suit each others styles, and both seem to calm each other down. Fox - 8 - Snuffed out the potentially dangerous Helder Costa, and grew into the game offensively. Very much Mr. Dependable now. Not many would've thought that was possible a year ago. Bannan - 8 - In the 1st half, he found it difficult to effect the game how he'd like, but stuck to the task, and defended diligently. In the 2nd half, he played the Quarterback role perfectly. Involved in both goals with 2nd assists, and his delivery from corners caused Leeds issues. I'd love to see this set-up in midfield more often. Lee and Luongo relieve Bannan of all the stuff, he's better off not doing. Lee - 7 - Worked tirelessly throughout, and tried to initiate the middle press with Luongo. Thought he was really poor in possession in the first half, but that improved ten fold 2nd half, and he and Luongo's improvement was the catalyst for a pretty flawless 2nd half display. Luongo - 7 - Very similar to Lee. Gave the energy and legs in the central areas that were required, but seemed to really struggle to withstand Leeds' tempo and press initially. When he settled down, so did we as a side, and it allowed us to have periods in the game where we could give the defence a rest from constant Leeds pressure, but also get our wide players into more dangerous areas. Murphy - 8 - His best performance for us in my opinion. Looked up for it in the 1st half, but given a tough task given our inability to keep the ball. Worked really hard (something he's been criticised for) and protected Urhoghide well with his tracking and concentration when in shape. 2nd half, I thought he was our most dangerous player. He did brilliantly to set up Winnall with the ball across the six yard box, and took his goal really well (although, what was the goalkeeper doing!). Reach - 7 - He, Lee and Luongo were the main culprits in the 1st half for wasting possession. However, like he often does, produced a couple of bits of quality, one of which settled the game. Great awareness to pull the ball back for Nuhiu's goal. Winnall - 6 - It was a tough ask for him, but you'd argue he performed his role. Worked hard, couple of nice bits of link up, although too often, wasted possession. Missed a sitter, inches away from a tap in, but occupied the centre halves, and set the game up for Nuhiu to come on and exploit Leeds' vulnerabilities. Nuhiu - 8 - Superb cameo appearance. Looked after the ball, allowed us to break and get up the pitch (something Winnall never really allowed us to do). Nice assist for Murphy's goal and took his goal emphatically. Don't write Nuhiu off...he's still got a huge role to play this season. Pelupessy - 6 - Came on, and did his job. Allowed Bannan to get a bit further forward, which directly leads to him been involved in both goals. Hutchinson - N/A - No mark, but his know-how and experience was a welcome addition in those dying few minutes. Overall... The 1st half played out, very much how I expected it. We sat in, kept our shape, defended the box, but struggled to impact the game ourselves because of our inability to keep the ball for any period of time. As a result, the wide men couldn't get higher enough to support Winnall nor effect the game, and had that carried on, the defence would've been asked some serious questions had the game went on. 2nd half though, our calmness and willingness to be brave enough to try and bypass the Leeds press, not only allowed us to control brief periods of play, it just relieved the back four for key moments. As the game went on, those spaces naturally developed, and we ruthlessly exploited them. You'd argue that he probably created three of the game's best four chances, and that was down to our improvement when in possession after the break. But, take nothing away from that defensive display...from every single player. To restrict Leeds to less than 1.0xG, is no mean feat. They create numerous good quality chances a game...but today, we restricted them to just 0.72xG (I think it's their 2nd lowest of the season). Monk prepared the lads well, and the players performed the game plan to a tee. This has to be a catalyst for moving forward. No more false dawns. 15

Ash77
Individually at least 7's, tho winnall got no service as part of a low possession soak up pressure display 1st half. Urgohide 8 in 2nd half, first half a bit exposed by murphy vs harrison and struggled at times but great 2nd half, big heart, great prospect, especially if he can start getting some crosses in, spots his to lose now Iorfa 8 odd imperfections but only he has the pace and physique to achieve as many crucial tackles and blocks Borner 8 best balanced cb pairing Bannan 8* some key passes for both goals, pass completion % must be huge, calm and everywhere too. Class. Luongo 7-8 everywhere and very clever movement Reach 7-8, far better on left and more chance of an assist like for 2nd, murphys miss at brighton a similar chance set up by reach on left, keep him there Murphy 7-8 bit lightweight and not great tracking back at times plus needs leaving on the centre spot when defending set pieces!, but created at least 2 good chances and scored, still would like to see more of harris on right but difficult to swap it yet. When reach on right, harris left it probably slows us down and forces us too narrow without compensating with extra goal threat, so hope we leave wingers on their natural sides now to help with assists and counters. Nuhiu 7-8 worse cross ive ever seen followed by nice assist and goal, wanted him to start today with fletch out, especially when we were hoofing it to winnall due to high press and quickly losing it 1st half, but it worked very well when he came on in the 4141 Team workrate, 2nd half performance and tactics has to be near perfect although leeds were wasteful, especially with close range headers, fine margins etc, but performace maybe shaded forest away with it being vs top of league, great stuff
theowlsman
I went for a solid performer today. Fox epitomised everything about the team today. A truly fantastic team performance. They were magnificent as a unit. Resolute, organised, solid, dependable, consistent throughout etc. Well chuffed for them today, hopefully got their mojo back

robswfc
Dawson 8- couple of great saves and no mistakes Osaze 8- won everything, warrior like Iorfa 7- good but quite a lot of dodgy touches that could have cost us Borner 8- organised everything and super cool under pressure. Did miss from a yard out though Fox 7- good except one bad error nearly let them in Bannan 10- absolutely wondrous performance. Can give him the ball in any situation and he makes something of it. Fantastic passing and dead ball delivery Lee 9- so much energy and quality on ball Luongo 6- didn’t think he did much tbh Murphy 8- never stopped running and great goal Reach 8- never stopped, assist Winnall 7- did ok considering the difficult role he had to play Nuhiu 9- goal and an assist- what more can u ask?

nevthelodgemoorowl
Gone for Urhoghide, that's 2 weeks running he's turned in two very professional performances. Given and taken the licence to push on giving opposition something to think about. Also considered Nuhiu a very purple 20 minutes. Maybe he can't do it for a full 90 but deserves better than the slating being dished out. Bannan and Fox grew into the game and between them ran the second half show. Iorfa and Bonner both giants at the back with vital contributions.
Bouncing Owl
I watched the game on a stream. I actually thought Julian Borner was a clear man of the match today. It was a great and resilient team performance but he did stand out today. Won everything, very calm on the ball and never harried. Lombardo
I didn’t think it was possible to win 2-0 with only one shot on target. Defence were the foundation of the result today. Loved Morgan’s reaction to 2nd goal
Guest Ferkorf
Iorfa for me, aka The Beast! But everyone on that pitch today was fantastic...Even Murphy Also the young lad really built on his debut, loved his bursts forward. Ran till his legs couldn't run no more. The team really needs to show this desire and passion next week against Blackburn.
