Abdi on the comeback trail

Real photo or not, it's strange how  such a talented player has wasted his career away these past 3 years. 2 months left then he's gone, and I shall never want to hear his name again.

A complete and utter waste of a contract.

When you think about the £4m we wasted on this guy, plus his wages (which’ll be at least £20k a week), then you think about the problems we are currently having with FFP, it really does leave a bitter taste.

The sooner this expensive mistake f**ks off out of our club the better.

We all slate Abdi but how many of us know the facts, injuries are part and parcel of football and I’ve never met a footballer who enjoys being injured.

of course he’s been a massive disappointment but to slate his character when we don’t know the facts, I remember the spat with Chansiri when he refused to play but he insisted he wasn’t ready, if he didn’t feel ready what was the point of playing him

I think he has some issues since joining us mentally which has really affected him and his drive to play.

I doubt that the owner would have (very) publicly made those negative remarks if that were the case...

That should be grounds for termination of contract. Injuries are one thing but mental problems are more akin to illness. If that affects a footballer's ability or willingness to play the game, the club should look into the legal ramifications of an early pay-off.

We were sold somebody whose legs/wind whatever you call it had gone. I do not think he was aware he had deteriorated but his club knew and why he was unexpectedly sold to surprise of fans. I am sure he has been affected mentally as he never could do what he had at previous club and realisation he was going to be a 3 year flop can not be easy on anybody. he probably knew fans would not be happy and would raise questions but does not make it easier. If he had some bad injury would have been medically retired so absolutely convinced the aging process kicked in for him and was no longer able to cover ground he used to be able to do which was key part of his game. He has looked off pace since day one and even in reserves looks well off pace. when this sort of thing happens you are lumbered as it is obvious to other clubs their is big issue. we have had 3 managers and all have put him out to grass, this tells me he can no longer play football to a standard necessary for professional game.

Think it says a lot about Watford who ripped us off big style and if he and his agents knew he had problem puts them in same boat. Fromhis demeanour when he arrived I think he was not aware how bad his problem had become although must have known had slowed up a bit.

I suppose this is danger of buying players over age of 30 or giving them long contracts.

His club knew?   So can't we sue them for misselling surely that is fraud.

Knew what? That he dropped below the standards Watford set? It doesn't mean he wasn't fit for purpose at Sheffield Wednesday. Therefore, in a real simple way, it's caveat emptor I would imagine.... Let the buyer beware.

Yep

The biggest transfer disaster in Sheffield Wednesday history, and that’s saying something

I’d love to know what’s actually happened to abdi I don’t believe it’s injuries I think something major has happened between him and club

its been a complete car crash of a signing and when you think of the cost of it I bet the whole thing has cost north of 9 million over his contract what a waste
