A team can keep the ball, passing it from man to man for x minutes, and still not advance into their opponents' half. Their opponents can sit back and watch them pass themselves silly. They are winning 'possession', but are not endangering their opponents. Looks good on paper, but means absolutely NOTHING. Same with the 'set-up' or formation,4-4-2, 4-3-3 or whatever.If a team are attacking, they should not be attacking with 2 men but with all pressig forward. Likewise when defending.
