FlyingOwl
We have Fletcher, Hooper, Rhodes and Winnall. All of which are all more than capable of scoring 15-20 at this level given the service. FF also plays up top. Plus Nuhiu who seems to still be in the managers plans. Our strikers aren't the problem, and Joao certainly isn't the answer. We have no room for Joao. If he does have 'potential' we don't have time to wait for it to blossom. What's more, a 24 year old with 'potential' needs to be playing. Best for more parties to move on. Sell Joao. Don't bring any strikers in. Would much rather focus our attention, in terms of strikers with potential, on young George Hirst. If we were to have a striker injury crisis, when we have friendlies or cup games...I want to see him given the chance. He may not be 'ready yet'. But he never will be if we don't give him the chances whenever we have the opportunity too. Edited May 21, 2017 by FlyingOwl

The problem is in his head, he doesn't seem to want it enough at times, and makes poor decisions. With his pace and height, he should be causing problems on a regular basis just isn't nearly consisent enough and lacks confidence. I'd rather loan him out again (maybe abroad back to Portugal) and hopefully he really hits it off there and we can then later sell him and recoup a decent amount of the fee. As things are we wouldn't get much for selling him now. Edited May 21, 2017 by swfc-dan
Blue_Owl
Joao does not seem to have the grit needed for the English game. Just not phyiscal enough for me. Either sell or loan out.
sheffield_dave
I could see him going somewhere like France, banging a few goals in, getting himself a reputation and then coming back to England with a Swansea or West Brom at 27/28 and doing well. But we can't hold on to him now on the basis of a speculative future or potential. He's so far down our pecking order now. He carries less goal threat than Rhodes, Fletcher or Hooper, is less well equipped for the English game than Winnall who does give us energy and running, has less potential for us than Hirst and arguably isn't even a preferable "option" to Nuhiu. Joao, Matias, Melo, McGugan.. these players aren't the answer. They've got to go.
David1867
Joao needs to go. Simply isn't good enough. If we can't sell him then he needs to go on a season long loan somewhere. He doesn't have the potential that some are making out, you just have to look at some of the chances he has missed to see that. If if we are serious about keeping hold of George Hirst then he needs to be given Joao's place in the first team, yes arguably 5th choice striker. Keep him playing u23 football and use sporadically in the first team. He is someone with potential.
SallyCinnamon
Personally think we just need a fresh manager in who can assess this absolute mess of a squad out. We've got so many players who we don't know whether can cut it or not. Fresh eyes are needed on the likes of Joao, Matias, Abdi, Jones, Winnall who I think could all be important players for us but at the moment don't seem it. Philb125
Loan him for first half of season and hopefully come back in form (if needed) or more valuable to sell in Jan when clubs desperate and need goals.
