Sad day today

Financially it’s probably a good deal for him but you have to wonder if he’s not prepared to back himself as a manager to work within whatever constraints he may find himself working under at a club like Sunderland then you have to wonder if they’re better off with someone else?

Shithouse of a manager going to a shithouse of a club, let him go.

Sunderland will be better than Stoke long term anyway, he won't get much cash to spend there, parachute payments have gone and they have a huge wage bill, rich owners but they've been writing off debt to keep them out of FFP trouble - so far.

Agree, club and manager suit each other down to the ground.

For my club with Alex Neil getting poached by Stoke.

Word is he didn't feel he was getting backed in the transfer market with the club model bringing in all under 22 players hecwanted a bit experience like every club needed .

Got a feeling we will fold like a pack of cards now and something that looked really promising will now turn into a desperate battle for survival and we will lose some of better players for rhe sheer greed of the owners

Feel absolutely deflated now to the point of thinking of not going tomorrow after 35 years .

Very good chance we could be swapping places with your beloved club next season .

The feel good factor that's been instilled since last February just been wiped from the club in a matter of minutes

Tend to agree with you, we'll probably swap places now, but good luck anyhow.

Any young players looking like good prospects btw? It's just that we haven't finished recruiting yet.

Ta.

alex neil is a snake like lots in football . sunderland gave him a job , got promotion ,massive massive support and he wants to go to stoke what are on there way to league 1 with crowds 35% of sunderlands . i touted for him to come here weeks before he went to sunderland when d moore was struggling and had half the fans on his back . another steve bruce only £ signs interest him , be funny if he lasted 4 months at stoke got the sack and nobody else employs him again, gary monk is now in that finished washed up market.

More money for himself, more money to spend on players and closer to where he lives. As has been said Sunderland a much bigger club but he wasn’t being back by them. Maybe to soon to ask but who would you like as a realistic replacement OP?

Bizzare move . Must be money talking Stoke is a backward step in anyones eyes

Why is it always assumed it's about money?

Could be for a whole host of reasons, not least family related. Let's face it, it wouldn't be the first time a spouse has decided they don't like a certain area and prefer life elsewhere so who's to say it's just for money?

Why he’d leave you to go to Stoke is anyones guess but I’ve a feeling all 3 party’s will be worse off in the long run, except probably Neil’s bank balance..
