Popular Post Lord Snooty
"What do we know about this lot then Stubbs?" "Relegated last season, Sir" "Should think so. 4th division club to my mind." "Really Sir, you'll never learn. This ideal in your head about the order of football. IT does you a disservice. Peterborough were in the Championship last season while your own Wednesday were slogging around down here" "Stubbs, they're a 4th division club. Spent most of their lives down there. I mean blimey, when we were runners up to Spurs these lot were playing in the Midland League!" "History counts for nothing ,Sir. You should know that by now. Look at Manchester United, getting hammered by Brentford, another club - according to you, who should be batting it around in the lower leagues" "Yes, that was marvellous wasn't it. But this isn't the same thing at all." "You're right Sir. Wednesday haven't been anywhere near the Premier League in 22 years. The point stands emphasised , that the size of the club has no relation on the results on the pitch" "Very well. But I still say we'll hammer them!" "They have McCann in charge. A useful manager at this level." "I thought they sacked him?" "They did , Sir. He left, learned his trade, won this very division at Hull and is now back" "Yes, well, still. They don't have the quality we have!" "I wouldn't say that , Sir. 6"7 , goalkeeper Lucas Bergström is earning a real name for himself and is expected to make the Finnish squad. Hector Kyprianou, 6"4 is a midfield powerhouse and of course Johnson Clark-Harris has a tremendous goals record of 45 in 88 for the posh. This, will be a real test" "I still say we'll absolutely splatter them" "They also have former Wednesday misfit Jack Marriott playing for them, Sir. A player who Tony Pulis admitted "I never met from the moment I walked in the door to the moment I left." 0 goals in 12 games, if you recall " "Hmmm, well, he's bound to score isn't he. Law of the ex player and all that jazz" "Thank you ,Sir for taking their threat a bit more seriously" "So, 5-1 to Wednesday it is then!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PETERBOROUGH UNITED V WEDNESDAY Kick off : 19 :45 Weston Homes Stadium Referee – James Oldham ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Peterborough United Peterborough were unable to make it an impressive three wins on the trot to herald the new season in as The Posh were handed a 2-0 defeat away from home at Plymouth Argyle on the weekend but nevertheless, Grant McCann’s side still be in confident mood ahead of this midweek clash. Early back to back wins against Cheltenham Town and Morecambe gave Peterborough the perfect start to this new campaign, while the bigger picture shows Peterborough have lost just two of their last 13 matches overall and just two of their last 18 home games. Posh will be without the services of Dan Butler and Oliver Norburn due to long-term injuries but both were on the training pitches for the first time on Monday as they move to the next phase of their rehabilitation. Both are unexpected to be back for a while yet though. Kwame Poku is unlikely to feature but he is nearing full fitness. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sheffield Wednesday A draw followed by back to back wins has given Wednesday a promising start to this season as The Owls earned a point in a 3-3 draw at home with Portsmouth which was followed by wins against MK Dons and Charlton Athletic respectively. With just two losses out of their last 13 matches overall, Sheffield Wednesday look set for further success here, although the visitors have managed to pick up just three wins out of their last eight outings on the road. Striker Michael Smith is nearing full fitness for the Owls but is unlikely to feature against Posh, Dennis Adeniran could return after being rested at the weekend, while Akin Femewo could require surgery after coming off in the win over MK Dons. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Key Facts – Peterborough v Wednesday Peterborough have lost just 2 of their last 18 home games Peterborough have lost just 2 of their last 13 matches overall Sheff Weds have won just 3 of their last 8 away games 25 3 10

Rogers
3-5-2 vs 3-5-2!! What has football become! I remember a very dull 1-0 win at Peterborough, James Quinn heading the winner. Since then, we've not had the best record there. Hoping for a dull 1-0er

Morepork
The games come thick and fast. We've had a difficult run of fixtures and this is another to be fair. Without hitting anything like our stride we've taken 7 points from 9. If we make that 10 from 12 tonight it has to go down as a superb start. Peterborough are strong with plenty of threat up front, it'll be a tough night and a genuine test. 1-2 to the Owls.

Manwë
2-0 to Wednesday, we don't even break into third gear. I can't even be bothered to post my substantial evidence to back this result up, but it's out there for those who can read between lines in EFL press releases. Wednesday will be top by bedtime. Need a win and a 90 minute performance to convince me we'll ******** league in stead of just being up there. 1-3 to the owls YYYYYEEEEELLLLLOOOOWWWS YYYYYEEEEELLLLLOOOOWWWS YYYYYEEEEELLLLLOOOOWWWS
Holmowl
I’ve a 300 mile drive at lunchtime and want to be sat in front of my iPad by 7.45 but very touch and go. Very tough game. I’d rip your arm off for a draw, but love a sneaky win. Intrigued to see who’s in the Xl and whether Dennis and Smith make the squad.

McRightSide
I reckon Peterborough make a few changes tonight McCann made a triple sub at HT last week with three of their ‘big name’ players getting hauled off They’re an open team and I’m looking forward to this one - one think is for certain, this is the best LG1 forward line we’ve faced this season so Stockdale and the Gang will need to be ready
striker
My initial reaction was a sense of foreboding about tonight, they've got some good players and a good manager at this level. And, Peterborough is one of those backwater shitholes where we could struggle. Maybe my opinion clouded by having to go there once andi it taking absolutely ages. Then I think, why am I concerned. We are in better form, have options to refresh midfield if needs be and looking at their wins, were against two of the weaker sides. If Gregory fit enough to start, will be more confident as I think we'll need more than one goal for the 3 points tonight. 1-2 to Wednesday

ChapSmurf
There are some decent teams in this league, and these are one of them. But so are we, and pound for pound we have the best squad in the league. However hard work will always beat ability when ability doesn't work hard. Match their workrate, and we'll come away with 3 points. I've no fear of any team in this league, but respect must always be given. 0 - 2 Wednesday is my prediction.
