SiJ
Bleurgh. If they could, they'd have half of their league matches abroad each season. The top 6 or so of this country is absolutely rank. On one side, you've got the dirty money from Russia, Dubai etc. On the other side, you have these American owners desperate to turn the PL into another version of the NFL.
Orlando_Trustful
Ridiculous prices for here, however you will still sadly get loads of locals paying it as these chances don't come around often. I saw Chelsea play in Bangkok a few years ago and it was far far cheaper.
katie melua
It's between $85 to $229 Australian Dollars to watch Manchester United v Crystal Palace at the MCG according to Ticketek Plus the standard $7.95 handling fee, which I assume will be applied Via the exchange rate, it's about 140 quid to watch Man Utd v Crystal Palace in a friendly match.

SiJ
It's all very Harlem Globetrotters esque. Plus, having Man U v Liverpool in an exhibition match just seems wrong from a footballing rivalry point of view, right? They're meant to hate each other, aren't they? I know it is the most boring, often most over hyped match on the planet but still. Edited April 1, 2022 by SiJ
R-Sole14
There was supposed to be an Old Firm game in Sydney in July, but Rangers have withdrawn from it. I think tickets were starting at about $40 for that game. But honestly it’s probably a good thing it’s not going ahead. No experience here in crowd control for a game like that in this country. Screen Door Slams
Wonder if dear old "moans at eveything" Jurgen will complain about all the travel for a meaningless game ?
Quickly Kevin
Man United fans boast about its ok they buy players because they make money. Yeah by being corporate whores. As far removed from football as the Sheikhs.

the third man
This is why they want to reduce the number of teams in the PL not because of the number of games they have to play, but because the top 6 can make more money playing matches abroad
trev
It's a business. People will pay those prices and will enjoy the "atmosphere". It won't be REAL fans of course, just supporters from afar. But is it that different to NFL fans from the UK/Europe going to watch NFL games at Wembley or Spurs?

No, but we don't want English football to turn into the NFL.

The real winners there are the people and residents of Sydney. Saves their city getting smashed up which it would do even for a friendly. Apparently the Zombie Tribute Act are facing a £5m bill for pulling out. 18 hours ago, trev said: It's a business. People will pay those prices and will enjoy the "atmosphere". To be fair that is completely different. The NFL games are fully competitive and part of the actual season. These games involving the English Premier League teams are a training exercise and a glorified kick about.
