Smells Like Team Spirit

Recommended Posts

We will never know the ins and outs until one of 'em brings a book out...

That book should be free for Owls fans, cos its patently obvious someone has done us a disservice

Say its Forestieri for instance...the no show at norwich...was a disservice to Owls fans, anyone who caused unrest in the dressing room...did a disservice to Owls fans.

If any of the managers dropped a player for reasons other than form,  he did Owls fans a disservice.

Any one of them don't have an excuse in my book at the minute

Monk said he would deliver this

Monk promised

Monk is delivering

I've been a critic of Monk and called for his head but i'll be over the moon if he proves me and all the other doubters wrong. In a way it's strange as I actually feel more positive this season with -12 than I did at the start of last season

Hope you are right and its certainly a great start.

Word of caution, the team spirit also looked fine at the start of last season when we were top of the league after 2 games. The huddles and high-fives were evident when we were 3rd on Christmas Day.

Long way to go but delighted with the result.

We were far too dependent on a firing Fletcher in that early season.  The balance through the squad seen today was quite the refreshing tonic.

It's only one game of course, but that felt like the emergence of a new team today.

Let's not forget that Cardiff only lost three home games last season - this was a very tough opener, yet we've put in a performance of real character and fight to secure our first three points of the season.

We're far from the finished article, but if we show the same effort, discipline and togetherness throughout the whole season, we'll give ourselves a real chance of overturning our points deduction and having a team to be proud of.

Great win..but let's see sat v Watford..

This is bang on.

Hope for the best, best possible start, but don't allow yourselves to get carried away.

Last season and the aftermath hurt just as much as any relegation, Monk and the team have so much to prove in my eyes and today is a step on a very long staircase.

Anyway, great result, UTO..

I think we would all take equivalent of 3rd at Xmas again, as that should mean we're out of trouble already.

The demise last year was very odd and sharp, but we have a decent enough squad to put that behind us now.

Think there is a lot of extra motivation in the squad to stay up despite the deduction. Going into a season expecting midtable can lead to mediocre performances, we certainly shouldn't find that now.

He wasn't firing today. According to BBC came on as sub and made no impact.

You're right about the better balance being refreshing.

It’s uplifting though to see them going for togetherness and unity first. That does rub off into the fan base - we love team spirit.

Monk is desperate to get the whole club pointing in the same direction - he understands how huge having the fans with the team is here

Togetherness is going to be key this season.

If we're going to get out of the situation we're in, then we're going to need to do so as a team rather than relying on individuals to dig us out of trouble.

For too long we've pinned all our hopes on individual players, only to be let down by Hooper's dodgy groin, Fletcher's suspect knees, or Forestieri's malfunctioning moral compass.

I doubt it's going to be pretty, but hopefully this season we can forge a team that we can all be proud of again.
