Mandaric to reach out to Chansiri

Recommended Posts

It is abundantly clear that the chairman needs an awful lot of help.

Advice that it's not about the quantum of spend but spending wisely doesn't really add a huge amount to the sum of human knowledge. It sits there with observations such as we need a 20 goal a season striker, we need a box-to-box midfielder, and we need to sign players who will remain fit as something that is at the same time both true and entirely fatuous.

Mandaric can't help him much, but if he were to get Chansiri to see that what he really needs is good appointments in the key off-field jobs, then that would be more than half the battle.

(Good appointments able to operate autonomously - but that goes without saying because a good appointee not able to do so will walk)

Don't mention plaques!!!

Good point.

Did anyone ever get one of those?

What was the offer again?

Buy a 900 year season ticket and will give you a plaque or something?

Great deal.

Couldn't he just pick up the phone?

Chansiri: Hello?

Mandaric: Hel-garble garble garble Wednesday garble garble Paul Merson garble garble...

Chansiri: Ah, hello Milan! Still using the old underwater telephone, then?

No mention of the current problems so must have been taken before the news? I'd like to have heard Milan's thoughts on it and FFP rules.

Hopefully at least they do have a chat and work out whether its best to appeal or just accept our punishment which might be more lenient if we do.

We have gone from when Milan left a club losing £5m a season in midtable with a first 11 made up of free agents, loans, and youth players to a club losing £20m a season in midtable with a team made up of players at the club when Milan was in charge, free agents, loans, kids and 1 or 2 players costing fees. (last match 7 FA, 1 YP, 1 L, 2 Fees)

For me Dc it is very simple you need 3 new signing not on the playing staff in January.

A qualified experienced director of football who has work in English football preferably in the championship who can manage the playing squad from first team down to the under 8's getting unused players sold or loaned out and helping to develop the promising youngsters into first team squad players

A qualified marketing manager who has the ability to sell goods at a prices they will be bought, a quality that the customer expects and of a standard that will get repeat custom then finally and most important he need a Director of club operations a person who knows how to run a football club from top to bottom, someone who will make the match day experience the best they can and not treat the fans as a cash cow to milk but as a fan of the club.

Get these 3 people correct and we move forward stronger, keeps things as they are and the silverware has been sold and it is when, not if, we end up in relegation trouble either this season or in the seasons to come.

What Mandaric could teach Chansiri is how to get fans to believe hes got their best interests at heart whilst ultimately using the club to make himself money.

The club was in free fall, its very existence at stake and the vultures were circling....No one else was stepping in to save us. Mandaric came in, steadied the ship and gave us one of the most exciting and memorable promotion stories in recent history.  Once established in the championship he sold us to a guy who took us to touching distance of the premier league TWICE playing the type of football which hadnt been seen at hillsborough for nigh on 20 years.

Ultimatley, Mandaric is a business man. He didnt spend much and he made a tidy sum afterwards...... but so what?

If I were you, I'd get my application sent in right away.  For all three posts!  Sounds like you're qualified

Only do it now while DC is still struggling to figure out why the past five years or so haven't gone according to plan

I mean, he won't spend time trawling through Owlstalk (thankfully), so he'll have no idea the answer to all his problems lives right around the corner

Then, when the two of you meet face to face for the interview, you could also offer advice on how to deal with the financial side of things

Players salaries and agents fees. EFL and FFP. SAG, SYP and the City Council

Maybe things haven't been straightened out with Mike Ashley yet, or that bloke in Middlesbrough who keeps leaving weird messages on his answer phone

How about the academy and shortage of youngsters breaking through?  That must weigh heavy too

Then there's the ground itself - to sell up and build a new stadium someplace else?

He's already bought it twice, where would the money come from?

I'd be surprised if he's had one good night's kip in the last three years

But never mind, eh?

He gets you on board and hey presto!

You'll get the club back in the Premier League and operating at a profit before you could say Walter Mitty
