Chairman’s statement

Revenue and profit are to completely separate things.

Does the chairman know the difference as this could be fundamental to any money coming in.

You normally factor for PROFIT NOT REVENUE as the chairman said in his statement, that you bill 1/3 wages, 1/3 cost, 1/3 profit.

Tell me though how can SUFC sell the boxes at £19,000 a make a profit but we cannot make a profit at £25,000 clearly someone is taking bullshit.

Indeed “Someone” is!

Do they make a profit?

Or is this the most they can charge to contribute towards costs, subsidised by selling their best player every year? (Not suggesting selling players is wrong, we could learn a lesson here)

My interpretation from what DC said is that he invested, as revenue, amounts in excess of the previous box total as sold at the lower figures. I get why he did this, but do agree we should make more effort to develop corporate partnerships with local businesses, although I am minded that he also stated that certain local businesses were deliberately increasing their prices for services tendered.

Richard Stanford backed up your last comment at the last steering group.

We have one of the highest fan contributions to turnover in the league and the policy of trying to get the fans to pay for everything is only going to go one way, as fans perceive the club as milking them and the numbers start to decrease. 2019/20 season ticket prices will be a made or break time for SWFC under DC for me. Try are eke out yet more money and the net affect will be another drop in revenue.

The fans money doesnt cover anything

the bruce appointment  just gets stranger and stranger …….

Absolutely. It's bizarre. I can only assume that Bruce simply cannot turn down the amazing salary offered by DC. The paradox is that by the time we've paid up Jos's contract, signed up SB and his assistants, there is feck all left for transfers or loans. DC sees SB as a promotion specialist but he can't succeed here with both his hands tied financially.

To be fair Handsworth i think we will have more of an idea in March. I just have a hunch the EFL will change the spending limits because the number of clubs in trouble is only going to grow and grow with rising transfers and wages. You cant impose sanctions on all clubs. Hopefully Bruce will have settled in by then and we will have a clear plan regarding players.

They have to change it, or very soon the only clubs who will be able to sign players are the most recently relegated or most recently taken over, thus creating even more unfairness and disparity in the league.

How do you know SUFC's run at a profit, they've made a lot of money from player sales, perhaps McCabe is bankrolling them, do you have the evidence that they cost £19k or is more stuff of the top of your head?

The cost at the lane is £19000 plus vat,no mention of making a profit.

Just checked our prices for 2018/19,£27000 plus vat

How do you even quantify what's a profit?. I'm pretty sure you can turn on the lights and heating for 3 hours and feed 10 people 23 times a year for £19k, but that's not the full story is it?

So if he launches another 1867 thing and people take it up, think on this. Every 20 thousand pounds raised pays almen abdis wages for 1 week.

I'm not buying it that the only answer to our problem is for us to pay more. Any money raised is a sticking plaster over a body that's had 20 minutes in with a hungry lion.

Being clueless I decided to see what a CEO job description is. This what I found.....

CEO
/siːiːˈəʊ/
noun
  1. a chief executive officer, the highest-ranking person in a company or other institution, ultimately responsible for taking managerial decisions.

How does that relate to her job with swfc?

    just wondering

Have you read what DC said at the forum? Have you picked anything up on how DC runs the club from his time here? DC said himself that KM's focus is on the commercial and community side- things like the Meadowhall shop and Owls in the park. It's DC who signs off the transfers and manages FFP.Just because she has the job title of CEO doesn't mean she is making every decision at the club- i think it's been quite self evident for a while that DC signs off almost everything the club does.

Follow the link unless I fabricated their website as well. As you so eliquately put it they would sell them at a loss as that would be stupid.

Except sage and onion was pictured in Sheff city centre with DC meeting Bruce

Don't think he's out of their grip yet

I had not seen that picture. He may be still around but can not see SB agreeing to some of players we signed up especially when players required in other areas of pitch. Think influence waned a bit under JL on football side and think it has been reduced even more on football side with SB appointment. At least we do not have some manager who has not worked for years and nobody but their mother and advisor has heard of.

I'll say it again - you can't charge over £100 a head and make a loss serving them a 4 course meal. It depends what else you factor in as costs. There are 1001 things that need paying for at the football club, including the players wages that people in the boxes are paying to see.

If you wanted to work out if a cinema was making money you'd factor in the cost of the rights to show the movies. How does that work with exec boxes?

It's virtually impossible to accurately say what a box does or doesn't make.
