Seems to be getting a mixed bag of views on here at the moment, saying we wouldn't miss him when his contract is up etc - but when he comes back in the side, would you start him? I'd look at having Forestieri, Hooper, Joao in a front three - which is frightening on paper...

I'm not close to our win to lose ratio when he plays - does anyone have the figures?

For me - he starts everytime he's fit, I've not doubt the boost he would give to the team as well would be huge with him in the side. Even if we got 20 games out of him, it could drastically improve our season. Would love to see the one touch Bannan, Forestieri and Hooper football again this season....

Main challenge is that he and FF are ineffective as a two so really need a target man alongside...

Can’t see anyone paying for him now but he’ll be coveted next April/May.

4231 allows us to make the most of what we have and protect a nervy defence.

Both Hutchinson and Pelupessy can play the dm role but Bannan or Lee could add something there too ie possession a bit deeper or a box to box runner.

Hooper, FF, Joao, Matias, Boyd, Bannan, Lee, Winnall. All have the ability to play a bit deeper behind a cf.

Nuhiu, Fletcher can do the lone role.

Lee could even play right back competently.

Sorry really struggling with the Hooper 'love in' he's a decent finisher I'll give you that, but often his first touch is woeful and passing erratic at best. His movement is good, but hardly has a great turn of pace.

it would be good to have him back as an option as he does give us something that we don't have, a forward that can play in the hole but I'm not convinced he's the messiah.

Very very happy to be proved wrong.

His distribution and dropping into the whole to collect and move out is pretty much second to none?

Yep FF-Nuhiu-Hooper would be great in a 343.

Or Hooper-Nuhiu or Hooper-Fletcher with Nando LW in a 442.

I think he's another one of those 'when they're fit they are an absolute first choice' but they're never fit

Summed it up perfectly Neil.

Its so frustrating that we can never get our best eleven players on the pitch at the same time.

Gary Hooper when fit and firing is a great player.

The problem comes when you look at his record for us, he has never played 30 league games in a season so that's over 1/3 of the season missed, he averages 1 on 3 for us which is good but can sometimes go on runs of not scoring for 5 or 6 games then bag the same in consecutive games. If he was your only striker and no one else was chipping in with goals then this would be an issue.

He is also on a very high wage of reportedly over £30,000 a season when you factor in the fact he does play for over a third of it, that makes him even more expensive.

For me if you need to get rid of one of Fessi, Joao, Hooper (not being able to offload the expensive flop Fletcher) then Hooper would be the one, Fessi creates goals as well as scores then and frightens the life out of defenders when he runs at then, Joao is improving all the time and if he is resigned to a new contract he will make us a decent profit in a few years if we need to get money in.

Hooper is the wrong side of 30 and of late (the last 12 months) he has spent most of it injured and worryingly we don't seem to know what is wrong with him because he has seen that many different specialist and he is still injured. But remember DC is in charge we will get Hooper fit and let him leave on a free in the summer.

Peanuts, some of our players get that each week.lol

Thing with Hooper, Lee and to some degree Winnall, they are our decent (or only) link players between the midfield and attack. Without them sometimes the attackers look isolated.

This to me has been the problem

for a long time. With Bannan sat between the centre halfs and Hutch sat on the keepers knee. We normally play a 8-0-2.

The only problem is, we play on grass. lol

the good thing about hooper is his contact runs out this summer he must be on 25-30k a week , there is no way he is coming back , came off boxing day vs forest with a hip problem , kept trying to come back to training failed each time ,kept getting pain ,unless the Spanish place were he went has a magic cure for his pain then hooper is done . I like hooper as a player but don't need wasting wages any more ,last season we must have had well over 10 millions worth of wages unavailable at any one time that's whats causing our downfall.

I love Hooper, easily one of our very best players and a cert starter when fit.

He had a great run of form last season up until Christmas and getting injured and I was told was due to be sold for big money in January and that his problem was down to a hernia for which he has now had surgery.

Hopefully he'll be back soon.
