It’s also catch 22 in that I would sell him if we received a decent offer, but we won’t get any until he’s fit, at which point I’d rather keep him! hawksmore
Problem is he's got weight and fitness issues. We'll never get a full season out of him and as a club that's skint, it means having to get other forwards on the books to cover. If we could get rid, then i would, simply due to the pressure he puts on the whole squad and finances of the club.

edwinowl
Absolute quality striker. If we can get and keep him fit as good as anything in this league.

frastheowl
Any club would certainly miss the quality of a player of Hooper. BUT, it's been a constant balancing act since Hooper signed of accommodating a class act (which involves playing a front two) but at the expense of playing Forestieri in his best position AND neglecting a midfield three. I love Hooper, I still consider him to be Wednesday's best player. BUT, if allowing Hooper to leave allows us to play Forestieri in his best position AND allows Hutchinson, Bannan and either Lee/Reach to play in a midfield trio, then it could be a worthwhile sacrifice. Especially when you consider his injury record whilst at the club.
room0035
Gary Hooper when fit and firing is a great player. The problem comes when you look at his record for us, he has never played 30 league games in a season so that's over 1/3 of the season missed, he averages 1 on 3 for us which is good but can sometimes go on runs of not scoring for 5 or 6 games then bag the same in consecutive games. If he was your only striker and no one else was chipping in with goals then this would be an issue. He is also on a very high wage of reportedly over £30,000 a season when you factor in the fact he does play for over a third of it, that makes him even more expensive. For me if you need to get rid of one of Fessi, Joao, Hooper (not being able to offload the expensive flop Fletcher) then Hooper would be the one, Fessi creates goals as well as scores then and frightens the life out of defenders when he runs at then, Joao is improving all the time and if he is resigned to a new contract he will make us a decent profit in a few years if we need to get money in. Hooper is the wrong side of 30 and of late (the last 12 months) he has spent most of it injured and worryingly we don't seem to know what is wrong with him because he has seen that many different specialist and he is still injured. But remember DC is in charge we will get Hooper fit and let him leave on a free in the summer.

outlaw pete
You can not build a promotion team around players who can only play half a season like Hooper does.. He has not kicked a ball in 2018 and has been injured for the past 8 months.. I also wonder what is the effect on the first team squad having a number of crocks drawing good wages for doing nothing it can’t be good for team moral. I'd look at having Forestieri, Hooper, Joao in a front three - which is frightening on paper... I'm not close to our win to lose ratio when he plays - does anyone have the figures? For me - he starts everytime he's fit, I've not doubt the boost he would give to the team as well would be huge with him in the side. Even if we got 20 games out of him, it could drastically improve our season. Would love to see the one touch Bannan, Forestieri and Hooper football again this season.... Fully fit he's our best striker, simple as that. Its just the fully fit bit he can't seem to get right

Bluesteel
Hooper was the main reason we stayed away from relegation trouble last season and he was injured from November. We’ve missed him but just forgotten.
