OFFICIAL - SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY HAVE NEW MANAGER

Recommended Posts

I’ve mentioned this a few times over recent weeks. I see a Chairman trying to make amends for previous mistakes.

The family is about to start moving forward again. Not my first choice manager, mainly because I’d never heard of him before, but good luck to him, and here’s hoping this is the start of a successful era for the club.

Not convinced, sorry.

Managed 5 games in the last 3 years in the German 2nd Division.

I think we've gone for a cheap option, and someone who needed a job so will do as he's told.

Having said that, I hope he can provide the necessary impetus we haven't done in the last few months, and especially next Friday night.

Good luck Jos. Sadly, I don't think you'll be here in May

Happy with the appointment, on the face of it he brings qualities we’ve been missing.

The fact that the majority of us have never heard of him shows just how big the football world is and I for one won’t criticise DC for casting his net wide of our shores.

One thing is certain, this guy will not tolerate interference or poor performance behind the scenes on the football side, he’ll just walk away. His methods have been successful several times, that’s not luck!!! On that basis let’s hope the club don’t hamstring him.

We have a new manager! Now, can we fans address several points and face them squarely :-

1) Don't pin all on beating the Blades next Friday. The man will only have had five days , including match day, to even assess the side, let alone get them in a state to beat a high-flying United.Even Rome wasn't built in a day.

2) After a game or two, expect some changes. It seems obvious that he believes on building FROM THE BACK. Despite Carlos' results, our defence has always seemed to me to be suspect, and you can't keep relying on the Keeper to dig them out of trouble,.as we have been doing for 2years or more.

3) Expect more of the Arsenal/Wenger -type play rather than the Barcelona type.

4) He must be given TIME, especially by the fans. This is obviously not a short term decision. Expect us to see some crap before the changes take place.

Incidentally, wasn't CC offered the Manager role but preferred Head Coach?  As Manager, Jos appears to have asked for , and been given, TOTAL control over the FOOTBALL side of the club, as it should be.

And to save any embarrassment , how should his name be pronounced.I never did get round Carlos' name properly..

He seems a great fella. I hope he enjoys his time in charge of us.

somewhat remarkably we have an unprecedented record with managers in football. Of the last 6 managers we have binned, for 4 of them their next game as a manager was in the premier league ( laws at burnley, Irvine at wba, Megson at wba and Carlos at Swansea). Of course, Dave the builder somewhat bucks that trend by taking charge of the mighty Hartlepool.

 Almost irrelevant in modern football

So I assume it's until after the end of the season then??

Welcome to Hillsborough Jos

I personally will give him time to get over his ideas and also time to make some strategic signings once he has

assessed the squad.  No knee jerk reactions please. Let's give this guy a decent amount of time to implement

his ideas.  He needs at least 2 if not 3 transfer windows and a minimum of 18 months.

Good Luck Jos.............go get 'em

On first impressions I like the guy.Far more confidence in him than last geezer, he has actually achieved something and repeated it. Delighted we have gone to Northern Europe if outside Britain for manager. Think this is the way forward. He looks to have lots of contacts in German game and hope he can use them to identify talent. It appears we have broken Doyen grip on club and hopefully player recruitment will improve considerably.

Few things i would like to know and for him to be provided with.

;

1. How long is his contract, it needs to be more than end of season.

2. A licence to shift some ofthe dross wehave acquired out of Hillsborough

3. If scouting still the same an opportunity to put in new network.

4. All players at club have level playing field and get fresh start including youth players. delighted to see Matt Penny has signed contract extension as he was one doyen client whose contract was due to expire in summer. Can we sort out others.

5. Allowed to bring in own backroom staff and we can move out any remnants of old team that may hamper or hinder his work.

6. We consider some person with English background with proven record brought into club to help him. this could either be as assistant or as DoF.

7. Allowed to bring in players of his choosing.

3 year deal I think
