Why are OT's most knowledgeable fans viewed as...

I'm not sure happy clapper and having knowledge is linked Nev.

I think its more to do with patience, some have it, some don't, supporters will lose patience at different rates.

Anyone who is currently happy with things at the club at the moment must be an Happy Clapper, I personally think we have moved a step back this summer, after 2 seasons of progression.

I am fully prepared for a nothing season, with dull football being played, very disappointing.

Im disappointed with our recruitment, initial start and lack of coverage with the defenders - but im not hysterical, or clamouring for Carlos to go after 90 minutes either.

I was disappointed with the play off loss, and the nature of the performance, but in context it was a relatively successful season.

I think, in the eyes of some, that makes me a happy clapper.

Being sceptical about the ability of the Head Coach doesn't mean you hate him. And good intentions won't get you promoted.

I have thought long and hard about this and concluded that the only reason I want promotion is so that our subsequent battles in the Championship won't be quite so arduous. But I am prepared to wait. The latest flat screen, the latest phone, the latest trainers and gear, even the Premiership quest...All mean nothing to me. Family & Wednesday rule OK !

I think statistically, those who happy clap and voted 'remain' are more likely to have a brain and less likely to swear, drink heavily, gamble, urinate in doorways, or smoke.

The sample I used was a bit limited though........  two....  but it's a start.

This is all a load of toilet isn't it anyway? A forum is just a collection of strangers giving and arguing their opinion, none of which are wrong. Facts are sometimes quoted, digested and discussed but then it degenerates into opinion again.

Pretty much exactly how I feel. There are clearly both positives and negatives to the way things are at the club right now but some people appear unable or unwilling to acknowledge anything positive as they have already made their mind up. This can work the other way as well though it's far less common.

I hate the terms clapper and moaner. I moan , because for what it costs to watch Wednesday and the amount spent, simply, we should have done better.

Some people disagree with that in the same way I disagree with blind loyalty such as defending the prices , shirt debacles , recruitment and abject performances.

Its each to their own, people are always going to have opposing views. It just seems to me that the supposed Moaners are far more tolerant and far less offensive to others than these so called knowledgable positive types.

I prefer the terms belltips and normals.

Belltips are the ones who make stuff up, quote hindsight as fact and refuse to accept any positive so that they can continue to attention seek and scream and cry like babies starting thread after thread about the same oldbollocks.

There aren't many of them but my God they are fuckingnoisy and quite obviously channeling every slight frustration in their sad, lonely and miserable lives through Wednesday and Owlstalk and the wider social media.

The rest of us normals have disagreements and discussion via intelligent debate.  We wear nice clothes, eat nice food, lots of nice cakes, have regular and exciting sex and love our work, families and life in general.

Don't believe aĺl the knowledgable fans are happy clappers.

I sit with some long term Wednesday season ticket holding fans  who are extremely knowledgable about football in general and the club in particular.

No way would I call a good few of theses happy clappers. Many are quite the moaning b*****d opposite.

I hate losing, words can't describe it

But there's one thing I'm sure of ...

I'll find NOTHING on Owlstalk to ease my pain   :columbo:

Are you indecently young?

Please don't take offence, it's just that we've specialised in losing over the period since 2000. Most of the long term/older fans have so much experience of seeing us lose that we have as many ways of describing it as the Eskimos have of describing snow. The last 2 years may be an aberration and we could go back to losing as the norm.

I don't consider myself a clapper or a moaner I'm a Owls fan first, last and always.

Not anymore

But I'm less inclined these days to use disappointment as an excuse to hurl blame and abuse in the direction of those who're most likely hurting as much as I am

Its simply the modern habit of fitting folk in a box...stereotypes  So they are easier to recognise, to label, and to argue against.

look at the couple  happy clappers walking under the South every other week, an elderly couple , who have probably been coming since the 40's..smiling as they enter...sit during the game in mutual companionship and leave , still smiling, win , lose or draw...You know why?...

They f.ookin' know there are far more important things than Wednesday winning...Their vocation is watchin' Wednesday,

He worked in a steel mill or was maybe evacuated from Dunkirk, she maybe worked in armaments, they both went through rationing, ..Then you want 'em to worry cos Wednesday lose at home?

Maybe they see sitting at Hillsborough before they turn their toes up as a reminder of the only leisure time they had together..Its an extreme example I know, but there are ALWAYS reasons why someone is happy just to be there....

It doesn't mean they don't want The Wednesday to win, It doesn't mean The Wednesday are not in their blood...Its simply relative.

You may have someone who finds it hard to mix socially, but finds it easier at a football match due to the tribal, one dimensional nature of wanting the same thing...Where he or she can laugh together when they win, sulk together when they lose..and simply be a part of it, To folk like those, being happy watching Wednesday is a release, maybe sometimes the only time they feel part of owt...

So have a think before you take it upon yourself to label some f.ooker, to decide in yer infinite wisdom that you know some bugger you never met...and if you are gonna disagree, do it with  humour....

Owlstalk is excellent when someone actually does get into trouble, some of the stuff that has been done by folk donating to worthy causes on this site is noteworthy...sometimes though...Have a think ........................................
