In the last 10-15 years what has it produced? Dawson Palmer Wildsmith Hirst taken by Leicester for nothing. Anything else worth mentioning? What does it cost? £1m per year? Must be at least £500K per year. That doesn’t look like a good return on investment to me.
Mike Bassett
Understandable that they have chosen an excellent set up at Brentford over us but still very disappointing that we eve lost two very promising young players. be interesting to track their progress over the next 3/4 years
terrycurran
The system is set up to the disadvantage of league 1 and league 2 clubs, our only realistic way of keeping young prospects is to win promotion.

Was thinking about this earlier. If the circumstances were the other way round and I was a 16 year old at League One Brentford and Premier League Sheffield Wednesday came calling, I'd be off. OriginalAlien
We did take Luke Cook from Brentford, where he was having an extended trial.
Hitcat
Even the top 6 in the Premier League lose youngsters to their rivals. That's life.

shezzas left peg
Let's hope we've got a decent sell on fee percentage and he ends up being one of those 20+ million players Brentford have found developed and sold in recent years .

malek
Shame about both him and Yogane. I was told that they both, but especially Holland are two of the best talents We had here for a long time. Lets learn on mistakes and not let this happen ever again. Despite this it looks like our youth development is moving in the right direction.

Brentford are a club known for developing players and selling them on to bigger clubs for a tidy profit. Where as we sign 30 year old crocks and bench most decent youngsters. 5
