CircleSeven Posted January 22, 2022 Share Posted January 22, 2022 Luongo MoM for us. I bet he can’t believe that he’s playing in L1. Our complete lack of ability to defend did for us yet again. If your going to play with no defence you’ve got to put away your chances. We had half a dozen good scoring chances today. I like Gregory and he puts a shift in every game but he seems to have forgotten how to get the ball into the net. Tony Pulis Posted January 22, 2022 Share Posted January 22, 2022 Peacock-Farrell 5 - left stranded for goals one and three, maybe a bit off positionally for Taylor's second. Johnson 5 - effective going forward, but should've done better against Taylor for their first (or even better, having someone else on the opposition nine!) Hutchinson 6 - brought the ball out well at times. Out of position for the second goal. Palmer 5 - not bad considering he's playing out of position. NML 6 - decent areas, little end product. Bannan 7 - good finish for the goal, but decision making is sometimes off. Luongo 8 MOTM - aggressive, positionally sound and best player on the pitch. FDB 4 - shocking. Tries his best but his best isn't good enough sadly. Out for next Saturday please. Hunt 7 - decent areas, decent end product. Not the reason we lost. Gregory 8 - holds up well, good assist for our second but should've equalised at the end. Sow 4 - ineffective and anonymous. Not even half the player that Windass is. SUBS: Windass 8 - composed in front of goal, knows his strengths. He's good and he knows it. Brown 3 - shadow of Mendez-Laing today, even on a bad day for NML. Should've done better in the box. Amateur defending… Agreed plus amateur finishing from start to finish. Should have had 3 or 4 in first half and Brown, Paterson and Gregory all contrived to miss sitters in final few minutes. We need someone other than Windass that has a modicum of composure in the box. If we put them away in the first half our defending doesn't matter so much. Their first goal was a diagonal ball which either defender or keeper should get to before Taylor on the edge of the 6 yard box. Their second was due to a couple of lucky ricochets, the kind of which, our strikers are unable to take advantage of.
