If Windass is our striker....

We somehow managed to release an injury plagued, past it, now 33 year old Gary Hooper 18 months ago...

and somehow still end up in a situation where he’d be our best striker even now.

Absolutely pathetic.

David Hirst, Paulo Di Canio and tragically Andy Booth would all still be our best striker and they left more than 20 years ago

Then we have to get the ball to them.

Even Ronaldo and Messi would not score with our midfield.

He wasn’t without chances tonight, despite how poor we were, how poor the pitch was. It’s just unfortunate that he couldn’t control six yards out, nor could he get an inch closer to reaches cross from the right that he narrowly missed.

In scruffy games like tonight’s they are the difference. I’d had thought Paterson does better in both those situations, but we can’t play him every game on his own.

Dunno why we don't play 2 strikers up top, Rhodes when able and Windass

Or just play Kachunga and Windass ..

Theoretically we've only got 3 strikers at the club

Patterson aint one ...

Kachunga, Rhodes and Windass ...

christ

Kachunga is a winger.

Not sure what Windass is.

Rhodes is a striker but clearly not wanted.

If we have any real desire to stay up we need an out and out striker, like Jutkiewicz.

Too true.

We never seem to bring players to the club that we actually need.

Not just now but for the last 30 years, 'Sir' Jack and Sgt Wilko were the last managers to do that.

Big ron wasnt too bad

He needs to be playing in a two off a striker.

Played up top he's more like a number 10, so it dosent work.

Would have probably scored for fun in a two alongside a hooper, fletcher or even Nuhiu.

He's a bit of pace and an eye for goal as he showed last night a whisker away from that header.

His game if played up top is coming onto flick ons, knock downs or mistakes not trying to hold the ball up or trying to win headers against defenders 4/5 inches taller and a couple of stones heavier.

I rate Windass, but playing him upfront on his own is ridiculous.

He's a number ten who should be playing off a target man if we're to get the best out of him. Expecting him to win aerial duels and hold the ball up is mad.

Watching the game last night, I had no idea how we thought we were going to score a goal - what was the plan they were working to?

Drop windass and give the other 5 strikers a chance that Thompson says we got

He needs dropping or a partner.

More of the same and we go down.

Had any other striker on our books in recent history played almost every game and scored a goal every 500 minutes we’d have the torches and pitchforks out.

Probably yes, but it’s clear we don’t have a pairing at the club. Personally, I don’t rate Windass, or Paterson, and can’t believe we payed the best part of a million to bring them here. Sadly they are here, so it’s a case of how do we get the most out of them. We need a mobile target man, a player who can bring the best out of the players we currently have

I like Windass and think he is a decent player but 100% agree that up front on his own is definitely not going to keep us up.
He simply and evidently isn’t a lone striker!

It’s a joke that we stick with it.

But in all honesty it’s hard to see an alternative in the current squad that would work any better.
